ParticipantHiyas,
Been to see this machine and it won’t reverse. Just keeps going clockwise direction without pause.
Any ideas? and can someone tell me what actually makes this machine reverse.
Gave it good staring at and could only see motor, capacitor, module, selector and door switch so I’m a little intrigued and would like to know how this changing of direction is achieved. Thanks

TRY REVERSING MODULE 1702136 TUCKED IN LEFT HAND SIDE LOOKING FROM FRONT.
THE “TIMER” IS JUST A SELCTOR, THE ONLY OTHER KIT IS THE MODULE.

Thanks for that, I didn’t see that 2nd module at all when I gave it look over. Really appreciate the help.
Thanks

OK. Still stuck, that part number is for the module on the right hand side top of the machine. (Looking from the front). I’ve already changed that one and it still doesn’t reverse.
Anyone got any other ideas on this? Please 😕Thanks

The module on the top right is the dryness module. There is no other module I can see on any drawings. Are you sure the selector switch doesn`t do the reversing?

Yep. I replaced the module and selector switch and it still won’t reverse.
Can’t see anything else in the machine to do the switching.
Machine doesn’t stop or pause so I can’t see the motor being the means of switching. It’s driving me nuts this one. 😕
Thanks

Can’t you get BG to buy you a service manual for the machine? At least the customer can still use the drier in the meantime.

Ahhhh. If only it were that easy. Looks like I’ll just have to dig around in the machine and try and figure it all out. 🙁
Unless of course, someone else has come across this. 😀Thanks for the input anyway.

The previous models had a reverse timer in the base, In the days of timers..
Check the capacitor for the feeds, there should be one for each direction.
Follow this back and see where they go to.
Also is it that it only runs one way continuesly, or does it run one direction and then stops waiting until it reverses a second time.
if its the last scenario could be a faulty capacitor, swap the wires round to see if it now runs in the opposite direction.September 24, 2005 at 3:58 pm #147972DentedPorsche

Hiya,
It runs in one direction continuously without pause.
Thanks for the ideas though.Brian

Motor direction on this is controlled by the timer/selector switch, part No:1702096 which in turn controls the relays on the module.
It does tumble for a very long time in one direction ( clockwise ) with the heater on, but only for a short time in reverse with the heater off.

Hiya,
Thanks for the info Iadom but I’ve already changed the selector switch and module and it will still only run in one direction. I’m due to go back to it Monday so I’ll have a dig about and see if I can find anything wrong, although there’s not that much in the machine. Thanks

I had a similar problem on a condenser dryer about 2 or 3 y. o.(dunno what model it was). Eventually discovered the reversing timer in the base right near motor. It was a right pain to get at the screws which held it in. Take all your screwdriver options with you.

This machine does not have a reversing timer in the base, the selector swicth/timer controls the motor direction.

Thanks Iadom, spot on with the advice and the circuit diagram was extremely helpful.
Went back to this thing today and sat down and watched it do it’s stuff. It appears to reverse regularly when it’s on the cool down periods but hardly ever when it’s heating.
Have to admit, I’ve not come across this before, hardly ever worked on anything other than Whirlpool stuff so still learning about the rest. Sometimes think some of the stuff should be on the Antiques Roadshow:P
Don’t know what I’d do without the advice and help on here.
Thanks everyone 😀Brian
