ParticipantHi all.
I am a Serviceforce Tech & am looking at this for my cousin. The drain pump runs & then it displays “AL01” indicating the flood switch has triggered.
However, there is no moisture or any evidence of prior leak anywhere (tide marks, rusting etc), yet still this fault code is displayed. The flood switch operates correctly & I have checked the wiring for any damaged insulation, checked for continuity & insulation on components (tubular heater etc) & the appliance as a whole yet I have drawn a blank. This machine thinks it has a leak but trust me when I say it doesn’t. Also, it doesn’t have an aquastop inlet hose, just an ordinary fill hose.
Another point is that I did disconnect the flood switch (naughty, I know) & initially it did fill & circulate the water for about 5 minutes but then it started to drain & “AL01” displayed again & this is how it has been since. The flood switch has been reconnected.
Please help!
Many thanks in advance.

I have seen the odd wire to the float switch chafing on the base, however the PCB’s are very ticklish on these as well. Not over expensive though, around £25.00 list price ex vat.
Two different ones depending on date code.

Hi Jim.
The wiring to the switch is certainly fine. I was wondering about the board but wanted to find out from other techs more experienced on Hotpoint than me.
Incidently, it was put onto Demo & the fault code came up then too. Just thought I’d mention it in case it gave any further clues.
Cheers.

Have you tried a reset, press & hold the Start/Reset button for a few seconds until you get three beeps.

Does the display revert to – – – after you have held the button in for five seconds or more?

Strange, TBH the only reason I have ever changed PCB’s on these is for no heat faults which is quite common. The fact that the display will not revert to the dashes does suggest a module fault. Perhaps one of the current company engineers who post occasionally may know better.

Like me you mean 😀
I have had one do this and it was the turbidity sensor that was causing the fault, some have them situated in the metering tank in the left hand side, others are situated in the base in the base.
It is possible for them to get water in and short out.HTHFebruary 19, 2008 at 8:36 pm #243575iadom

Sorry if this is going to cause any confusion but it was me that started this post. Davyboy212 was my cousins sign in & I didn’t have an account on here when I was looking at the dishwasher in question.
As I said, I am actually a Zanussi/Electrolux Tech so Hotpoint dishwashers aren’t my speciality but you mentioned the turbidity sensor. Do you have a photo of what it looks like? If it looks like what I am thinking, it is in the base on a clear plastic pipe situated above the drain pump & has a direct wiring connection to the float microswitch so this could have some relevance. What would happen if this were disconnected? Would this be recognised as a fault by the board? Is there any way of testing it with my meters or is this not possible? If so, what sort of reading should be found?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave.
Anyone know what “AL05” represents?
Bloody dishwashers.

Are you in the trade?
If so, why not register as a trade member? 💡

Hi Martin.
Yes I am in the trade. I am a Serviceforce tech.
At the risk of sounding like a plum, how do I register as a trade member & what does that grant me?
Send me a personal message if you can advise further.
Thanks.
