Deary me, not my day today is it? 😆

That pic is the reverse of the board from the other picture. I’m obviously getting a tad confused as a result of a rather stressful Sunday so go on, please humour me (I need humouring)….what exactly do I need to take a picture of? 😀

The green side of the first board – will have lots of silver tracks running around on it.

    Cheers,

Errr! The pretty picture you took was of the component side of the ‘Programme Module’, now by all means remove the 5 plastic lugs and take a picture of the green track side but I suspect that a total waste of time 😯

It’s the other board with the mains transformer on it that’s the likely problem and that’s the ‘Power Module’. After all it does supply power to the other board and if the display is blank I’m not the least bit surprised 8)

I really think at this stage though, your machine needs a bit of expert testing to be honest. Get an engineer to test the state of the motor first of all ‘cos usually they cause power boards to blow etc etc. (No point in messing with a module if the motor is duff as well 🙁 )

The board had blown, you were right. 🙁

The costs of a DIY job, when taking into consideration my self-confessed ineptitude in this area, dictate that replacement is now the only course of action. Getting an engineer exacerbates the costs, plus other things may be knackered too.

We’ve ordered an LG from Currys with £150 off in their sale, for a grand total of £250. With the 7kg load and our burgeoning family, it makes sense. 😀

Thanks for all the help, your time was invaluable and so appreciated, even if the end result was not the best from a personal point of view. It’s a great thing that resource sites like this exist and that people like your good selves take their own time out to share their experiences and knowledge. if the LG blows up, I’ll be back with cap in hand, no doubt!

    All the best. 🙂
