ParticipantI get a lot of these machines that make a knocking sound when they go on 1400 spin. They run fine on 1000 spin. The bolts are tight into the concrete but seems like concrete vibration.I had one come in that had rubber spacers that fitted smug into the holes where the bolts go .Is this a remedy and if so can they be ordered.

Participantno these rubber spacers are part of the transit bolts and are meant to be removed with the bolts, its just coincidental that this fixes the fault, although I would have thought it would make an even worse noise! 😕

Thanks ,All the 1000 and 1200 spin machines that come in are fine but the 1400 seem very noisy on 1400 spin. The concrete in bolted on tight but the noise seems to be from there.

Check the motor luggs – the little black lugg spacer sometimes is missing and only makes a noise at high spin speed. Worth a look just in case. 😀

the knocking noise on these models is usually the suspension legs. you can either try applying alot more grease to the legs or simply replace them, this will defo solve knocking noise…in my opinion 😀

Thanks will try today.I am getting more and more of these machines to recon so i have go to get to the bottom of it .It is all the high spin machines that i have this problem with. Thanks

Checked everything and put allot of grease on legs, still knocks.Pushing down hard on the drum when on full spin stops the noise, will order new legs unless any other ideas. If it is the legs i will have to order allot of them because most of the 1400 spin machines i am getting suffer from this.

yep i would defo fit new legs and pegs to one machine to see if it solves the problem but i remember in the past having to fit alot of these parts because customer complained of knocking noise on final spin. they were the last thing that myself and alot of other hotpoint engineers would expect to cause the noise but hey ho new legs and pegs sorted it right out. 😀
let me know the result. 😉

The legs on this machine are the same ones as on the WMA.
I see the ones shown for this model on Qualtex are the newer type.Does it matter which to fit .This model is WF54October 28, 2008 at 6:59 pm #266737iadom

Sad to say it may still not cure the problem.
I have a WMA 63 over 6 years old. It was nice and quite at the beginning but gradually started to knock at 1600 rpm. I have replaced suspension units, pegs and bottom fixings and it has made no difference whatsoever. If the load is perfectly balanced it is quite or quieter than the ISE 10 but the slightest OOB and it makes a bit of a din.

Do i fit square type or round type suspension kit

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wf
true it isnt always the suspension legs but if all else checks out visually and balance weights are tight then i would look at the suspension first. the belt doesnt cause a knocking sound more a tapping but that is a rare one, the belt more often than not causes a squeak on the wash as the drum changes direction. oob loads are a great contributor towards knocking sounds on the spin but is suspension is okay then the chances of this are greatly reduced.
i wouldnt fit cheap and nasty parts to try and solve it either, stick to the manufacturers parts and you have more of a chance of solving the problem…in my humble opinion 😀
with regards to square or round i would replace like for like so on the wf range fit the round legs. and dont forget new pegs because excess movement due to dodgy pegs allows to much movement of the drum during final spin.

This wf has square suspension. With me pushing down hard on the top the knock stops ,so that makes me think it must be the suspension

i would fit like for like but as i said suspension defo causes knocking noises on spin
