Moderatorone thing to watch out for when selling spares is a little trick that caught me out once and someone else tried it the other day. They buy a new fan element for a cooker and 1 hour later bring it back, with the opened wrapping and say its faulty. I megger it infront of them and yes it is faulty. What they do is bring back the original faulty one and hey presto its BOGOFF time!
These were both Neff items, only 18months -2 years old and there was no visual differrence between a brand new element and their old open circuit one.May 3, 2005 at 1:11 am #133429alexa

You could be sued by someone doing there own repairs incorrectly or with lethal consequences.
By all means sell spares but give them a contract to sign
Brings me back to a forum on “Contract Conditions”

You should put a security sticker on all parts you sell
And no returns on electronic/electric parts that have the security sticker tampered or have obvious signs of been installed
And as customers tend to bend the truth, a audio/ visual recording of all that you told them is absolutely necessary

Isn’t it “wonderful” when someone else’s customer comes to you as they’re to embarrassed to go to the person they bought the spares off.
And of course you never hear from them again as they’re too embarrassed to come back to you
And of course another perfectly serviceable machine goes to the rubbish dump
