I use one of two methods dependant on the situation. The teflon coated sliders from B&Q as mentioned in a previous post are really good. I also buy a sheet of 4×2 hardboard from B&Q for about £1.50 and cut it in half which is just the right size for your average appliance. (Don`t cut it if you want to work on a range cooker:lol:) It`s also usefull if the flooring is in bad condition or the doesn`t go right back under the appliance you can just leave the appliance on the board and it makes it easier for next time.
I`ve not had any damaged flooring in 20 years using these methods, although next time I`m in B&Q I`ll check out the mats. I guess they might be easier to handle when I`m struggling up the road in a force nine gale with my toolbox in one hand a hardboard sail in the other ❗

I just squirt the area where the feet are going to slide with WD40. Works every time and also cleans the floor when cleared up afterwards.

I use a steel fishslice to get feet up over the edge of vinyl that is only laid to the front of the machine if there’s not enough height to lift it far.

if i see lino flooring i always tellthe customer that damage may happen and wait for there answer.
if they say go for it its there look out i am not liable.
i still cant work out why people still buy lino or grippy flooring for kitchens etc knowing full well washing machines and dishwasher could dig in and tear the floor.

Sorry tanner but I’m afraid you are still (very much) liable if you damage anything belonging to your customer. Please don’t think otherwise, just ensure your public liability insurance is up to date and….mind how you go! 😉
