ParticipantHi All
Had a look through all the related problems with this dishwasher and couldn’t find one mentioning a constant bleeping and flashing start light. Problem started last night when it tripped the switch on the fusebox and no matter what cycle I put it on I get the bleeping after it has filled up.
Any ideas anyone?
Grateful in anticipation

Hi
Its a Whirlpool in a skirt 😀
Start lamp constant flashing usually means NTC fault.
Check base for water 😕Greg

4812 282 68012 is the part number if you need the NTC. spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will supply you with one promptly.

Ok Guys,
Received the NTC and fitted it today, but now it fills up, blows the fusebox and leaks water from underneath the unit.
What do I do now?

Base is flooded, likely leaking, and circulation motor is getting wet.
Drain the base (not inside the machine, below that) and try again checking for a leak into the base.DP

If the machine was not leaking previously, I can only suggest that the NTC device has not been fitted correctly. It is mounted at the lowest internal point of the machine, after all.
Dry everything out before re-trying.

Count the flashes of the light between pauses and post the result here.

Hi DP, it flashes four times inside dry as a bone, and is not tripping the leccy.

Hi
Sounds like a clogged or faulty “Water Indicator”.
This is the round unit below the filters at the 3’oclock position.
It can get clogged with food debris etc and is best cleaned gently with a toothbrush so as not to perforate the membrane behind thus rendering it useless.Greg

No drain detected in the time allowed.
The black grid at the 3 o’clock position in the sump is the level switch and is probably full of congealed fat. Plenty of hot water and a toothbrush will probably clear it – occasionally you need to get it out and under the tap for better cleaning.
Power off, of course.

Thanks for the replys, I have cleaned the black unit, although looked clean, whilst I have the base off, the chamber next to the salt looks like dark soup!!! is this normal?
I still have to reassemble still to check.August 8, 2007 at 6:26 pm #212776clivejameson

I have rebuilt it and run it on a 40 cycle it did the forty mins and started beeping again
4 flashes, rinse cycle highlighted, undertray dry, I did give the black unit a thorough clean with a tooth brush and do not believe I broke the membrane.John

If the machine has successfully drained then it will be either the water indicator, the pcb or the wiring between the two. The use of a multimeter can establish the integrity/operation of the first and last but if they’re functioning correctly that only leaves the pcb i’m afraid 😕
