Hi all
Don’t get many calls to replace door seals these days, but have just done one on a Indesit WIL 123
Easy enough apart from, getting the large spring back on the tub end of the seal…Just wondering if you guys have any tips..
Obviously easier with two, but I was on my own and sweating pints LOLAlso noticed the front panel is spot welded, so had to be done through the porthole, and via the top

Large spring, wait until you have to try and refit the ones with the wire clamp.

Whenever I do the spring clamp version I use 2 or 3 of these clamps.
The method I use is:
1. Place the seal on the tub then carefully roll the front into the drum.
2. Now place the spring into the grove (I usually do it on one side) then slide the first spring clamp over the top which will lock the spring in place.
3. Now I usually pull the spring round the bottom of the seal (this leaves it a more natural/less painful position for my hands to fight the spring later) till I am about 180 degrees round from the first clamp before applying the second.
4. This now leaves your hands free to fight the spring into the rest of the groove, if it is hard work then use a third clamp a bit further round and move the middle clamp as necessary.Assuming you can get to the plug then there is no need to even pull the machine out or take the top off.
Hope I written it in an understandable way but that is the gist of how I refit them.

Once I looked at the pictures of the clamps, it all fell in to place… Going to fit a new spring tomorrow, as I was not happy with the tension on the spring after I struggled with it!…
Using your method I think it should be a lot easier

Mmm. Will have a look at those. Reasonable price too. I was always suspicious that they would be too big to get between the cabinet and the door seal. Interesting to know someone has actually used them for the job. 😀

I got mine from a local ironmongers/general hardware store here on the island – think that they were the 4″ ones from memory, if I remember tomorrow I will measure them and let you know the size. I use them mainly on the Zanussi machines and although they are a close fit they do fit and hold the spring into the groove nicely.

Well, been to fit the new clamp today..
Definitely a lot easier using the method described by Jem… Or should that be “Gem”
Took me just 25 minutes. Customer was as impressed as I was!Thanks again for that tip jem

spring clamps cover them in washing up liquid put on then run along with your fingers

Got my way of doing it from this site a few years ago, easy as owt on zanusis Bosch and all the spring types. Fit seal onto drum and turn outer edge in if its possible. Washing up liquid over hands and seal, lip the spring in at the bottom edge and work your hands round the seal pulling the spring up as you go. 5 minutes tops. It used to take me ages.

Nah. Easiest way I’ve found once its in the lip at the bottom keep the tension on the spring whilst pulling it upwards. Works a treat. Without the fairy it’s nigh on impossible 😉

I lubricate the spring with washing up liquid then i shove a long screwdriver through the door interlock to catch the spring using my hip to tension screwdriver leaves you two hands to slip the spring round the seal a couple of minutes usualy does it. Did a beko one this way today 5 minutes to fit the seal and spring.
