Integrated Electrolux ESL6211LO leaking into tray

Hi, I recently noticed the above dishwasher to be giving a premature ‘end cycle’ LED flash with 3 beeps sounding constantly. On turning the dishwasher off, the pump remained on but sounded like it was pumping only air. I had to switch off at the wall to stop the pump.
After removing the kickboard and the panel on the base of the dishwasher I found this had been triggered by water pooling in the tray at the very bottom of the washer, causing the polystyrene float to raise and trigger the pump. Like an anti flood device.
I noticed the tray is divided into 2 sides, left and right. It was only the left tray that had filled with water.
I removed the water and the error reset however the next operation caused the same problem. I noticed this time the majority of water was coming from a grey pipe directed above the left side of the tray. The grey pipe over the right side of the tray didn’t release any water.
I don’t know what this pipe does or why it is suddenly letting water flow into the tray. I’m assuming it’s some part of a failsafe.
I directed the pipe into a bowl, removed the water from the tray again and ran another cycle. This time I noted quite a lot of water running from the left pipe and also still a small amount of water making it’s way into the left side of the tray but not enough to trigger the float alone. I’ve no idea where this water came from.
Can anyone shed any light on what the problem could be/ what the pipe is for/ why it’s releasing water now?

sounds like its overflowing. those tubes are under the door seal and if too much water enters the tank it overflows down this tube, lifts the float and stop the machine

some of the units in this range are subject to a modification of the pressure switch for this very problem

Thanks Dave. Any idea why it would be suddenly overflowing and if there is a fix without me getting an engineer in?
I take it the ‘tank’ is the space the filter sits in? This is full of water just now but looks normal. There’s no water sitting in the floor of the washer and all seals etc look fine. It’s only 5 years old.

had exactly this fault on one a coupe of weeks ago

tke the lower cover off and the is a plastic tube that curls around to a switch just below the door. What they found is this tube get contaminated and blocks. this stops air pressure getting to the level sensor so it thinks there is less water then there really is. This can be intermittant as the blockage is soft material. so they produce a mod kit with a re designed pressure chamber to combat this .
if your is one of the unmodified ones its likley to be this problem
will see if i can find a pic give me 5

then it prob needs modding

if it looks like this

then its already modded in manufature. the kit involved adding a piece to alter the first pic to look like the second. its very easy to do

Yep, mine definitely looks like the first pic… just the hole.
Is this a mod I can do myself? No clue what I’d need.

Hello again, just waiting for the kit to arrive but I’ve since ran the dishwasher a couple of times with the hose in a bowl catching about a litre of water and I’ve noticed it’s not washing with hot water. It’s running a completely cold wash.
Could this be related to the above leaking issue or a separate problem entirely now?
I’m sure it was warm water even with the leak before.

you mean you took the overflow hose and dripped it inot a bowl

short answer to your question is maybe. you wont find out till you fit the kit. if the machine is not convinced it has enough water it wont energise the heater.
the heaters can go on these but its a much bigger fit than this mod

Yeah I directed the left overflow hose into a bowl to allow a wash without the water triggering the overflow sensor. The water is stone cold now.
Ok, I’ll fit the kit when arrives and cross my fingers. Failing that I’m forking out for an engineer by the looks of it.

that depends on your mechanical and electrical knowlege and if you can test and replace the heater if necessary

also its doubtful you will get an engineer to look at this for the moment. we are concentrating on cookers and washers as dishwashers are not seen as essential. Plus any visit to a strangers house carries risk for the moment for both the housholder and the engineers

Just wanted to say thanks for your help with this Dave. Fitted the kit and the washer appears to be working as normal again. No water at all in the tray or elsewhere. The hot water is also back which is a bonus.
Saved me a callout and having to wash dishes by hand for a while, god forbid
