    Dear all.

just joined today. My Mum has said she would like a condenser dryer, are they worth the extra cost? if so, what brand should I go for and what features should I be looking for?

    All responses gratefully received 🙂

Would always go for a vented dryer myself as they are so much more efficient than a condenser system. If she insists go for a Zanussi TCE7127 or if she really wants to push the boat out go for a meile T224 or T234.

    thanks for the response.

it is just a condenser dryer she is after.

i’ve read reviews about them and they don’t seem to be very good.

I Have got a zannusi TC484w, had five years not one problem, only thing being that you do have to bend down to empty water bottle, this model has 3 heat setting and door open button.

You can could get a WhiteKnight, which some models as others come with a Drain Pump with hose to drain water down a stand pipe.

Another good brand is Whirpool, My advise would be steer clear of brands like Proline, Hotpoint , Indesit etc although you only get what you pay for.

Trust Me I repair whitegoods for a living.

    Hope This Helps

thanks for your honesty wayne, it is much appreciated.just the name zanussi brings me out in a sweat because of the extensive problems that i have had with their washing machines and washer/dryers in the past.

most models these days have a bottle at the top.

i thought hotpoint would have been one of the better brands to go for.they don’t make things like they used to.

do you have a condensation problem with your machine? do you need to keep windows open?

i’ve always regarded white knight products as cheap and not as good as other brands, maybe that’s wrong. you would know better.i’d better stop writing, people will be gtting bored.

    thanks again Wayne

    Hi,

The “Which?” magazine (some time ago) did a test on condenser tumble driers.

Their conclusions at that time were that Miele was the best at preventing room condensation; AEG next best; and Zanussi came third.

Hotpoint / Creda received a poor write-up due to too much steam leaking back into the room.

I know of two separate households with Creda condenser models, and they are not impressed by their machines. (They call them “wallpaper strippers!”).

Hoover (and thus Candy) never had much said about it either.

p.s. Like you, I always thought that White Knight looked cheap ‘n’ nasty!

    Hi Trilobyte,

    Thanks for that.

Just thinking is it worth getting a condenser/dryer. i hate the fact that you have to use a vent pipe with a usual tumble dryer and stick it out the window. or i could make a hole in the wall.

looking at the responses, i’d say condenser/dryers aren’t worth it. i may have to convince my Mum to stick with a usual tumble dryer.what to do?

    thanks all 🙂

They have (croslee} manufactured both for Bosch & Zanusi

Is it a conspiracy for the public, like wise Beko have manufactured a fridge/freezer called – Panache – the perfume smells nice for oldies (appoligies) I’ll buy that says ‘she’

you’re right wayne.never judge a book by it’s cover. shouldn’t generalise products cos their cheaper. the parts inside them may well be used by the “brand names”. we can’t tell and the manufacturers have got us by the short and curlies. why do most products seem to malfunction just after the manufacturers guarantee runs out?

Have a look at the Bosch WTE86304 with a two year guarantee or the Siemens WT46E386 which has a five year warranty. Both are from the stable of BSH. Good nationwide backup too. Or as turbo said if you can go the extra mile then the Miele.

Re: Is a condenser dryer worth it?what should i look for?

I am having problems with my condenser dryer. Purchased it in Sept 05, the condensation is as bad as my previous vented one.

Purchased the condenser one because I thought it would stop it. My daughter has the same model but she does not seem to have the problem.

Does anyone know if it should do this?

Re: Is a condenser dryer worth it?what should i look for?

Not a model I am to familiar with, others on the trade side may be more up to speed on Zanussi dryers. You are far more likely to get some condensation with any model if it is in a very cold room, if it has been like this from day one that would suggest a likely cause. If it has only started happening recently then you may have a problem with drum/door seals etc.
