I wrote an article about the very same thing some months back –
Washing machine prices shaved too muchDecember 10, 2007 at 9:39 am #236270waters

I have a shop and recon washers.I do very few repairs, just recon and sell. The first few years got better and better then the last couple of years we have just managed to make a living and pay bills. This year however has been our best year.It used to be why buy secondhand when you can get new for 150 pounds, but something has changed.People have got wise to the cheap offers.Lots of people have said they had a recon off me and later gave to their kids and its still working and got a new machine for themselves and it packed in after a year.
Repairs may be a different matter but on sales i am now selling machines as i am doing one,a year ago i had a shop full.
I have dropped prices but this is great.I got to the point i was going to pack it in and now think the future is brightDecember 10, 2007 at 8:08 pm #236271Madmac

Glad to hear youre doing well with refurb machines. On reading through this thread the general consensus seems to be to concentrate on giving a personal & honest service to your customers & they,ll keep coming back. let the percentage of the public who will always buy cheap & throw out, go & get their sub £200 skip fodder, they may or may not sit down one day & work out that their ‘bargains’ are not really bargains at all. :rolls:

Exactly!!
Honesty and integrity count for a lot these days, and people want that. The “3 B’s brigade” (buy it, boot it, bin it) – will always want something for nowt. Most people are waking up to the wanton waste of materials and I for one find more and more people spending over £100 on a repair. Not so 2 years back. Great news!! Long may it continue!!Steve.

With respect K, I think you should look into the issues raised here rather than self indulgant sex games 😉
