ParticipantHi
looked at the above today, on the quick program it fills does one or two tumbles then drains then stops the display goes blank, tried it on spin only and it did a short spin then shut down again the display went blank.tried a different programs same happened mostly shut down with a blank display but once or twice it stopped a reset the program.
Put it spin again and it did a full spin this time.
Followed the Tech sheets to find the test program but could not get it to respond after several attempts. Took the back off tested the heater element, and motor for earth fault, all ok.
Any ideas pleaseJohn

it unclips with its own “cradle” just to the left of the motor, follow the 2 thin black wires. If looks signs of moisture then leak is probably from dispenser. IME it usually earths out when wet and blows the trip.

Thanks for the advice, this is my first call on the 10 and also it’s a 40 mile round trip and I’ve already been there once so it would be good to take as much information as possible this time.

If it is a wet or damp thermistor is it just a matter od drying it and finding the source of the the leak? what reading should I get to test if it’s faulty?

KeymasterHi Johnny,
It’s on the tech sheet you should have, if not it should be downloadable from the stickies in this forum at the top.

Have one that’s done the same, Mark my other Engineer couldn’t find the leak on first visit but knew sensor was damp and also element was open circuit, where did yours leak from, hose to tub or the actual dispenser itself, in your opinion what would be advisable to take back part wise?
Only asking as he has only seen a couple of these and it’s miles away from me so I can’t attend it and I need to give him as much help as possible.

its such a tiny leak the source is difficult to pin point as almost any leak around the drum will collect in the position of the ntc. Cannot remember for sure but my one was dispenser related and no parts were needed to fix….no re call as yet and its been a year or so……

KeymasterI’ve seen this one myself, for a change. 😉
If you overdose or use some stupid detergent it’ll leak from the SD hose where it meets the tank, run down and round straight onto the thermistor.
Shorts it.
All sorts of odd errors ensue.

Thanks Mark & Ken I will let Paul know, I might need to talk to you about this one Ken as Paul reckons it could be possible customer misuse & abuse, I’ve asked him to take photos on the re visit :rolls:

the ones I have had were shorted to earth, easy to test and obviously replacement needed, but this one blew the house trip rather than display or other faults.

Went back to the above washer and located the ntc, there was signs of water around, dryed it and then tested it with my meter it measured 7.5kohms the service manual says 6.1-3.8kohms will this mean a replaced or will it improve when dries out more?
Will the faulty ntc cause no motor action and stop me doing a total reset and getting into the test programme?
On every progam it fills and once filled immeadiatley drains then either resets or the display goes blank with NMA. tried spin only, still NMA.
Tested heater element again for earth fault and continuity all ok, also motor has no earth faults.
During testing was looking for water leak although there are signs of water nothing would show up for me.
Apart from the distance problem 40mile round trip the customer is getting irrate as she didn’t expect a problem this early in 10 year warranty but thats the way it goes.
Any more advice please?John
