Good for you Simon. Respect for having a go.
But I wasn’t really crying chicken, just saying that it may be an idea to understand them as they’re here to stay anyway. 😉

Hmmm?…….. I think reading this may help explain the principle a little better :-

Reading the statistics on these dryers it is clear to see why they are going to be so popular in the future. We so often are unaware on exactly how much a conventional dryer costs to run and in comparison the HP dryer shaves the cost of the electricity bill. There’s always a downside to all this though as in comparison to a conventional heated dryer the HP dryer takes almost a third longer to do the same load.
A typical heated dryer can dry a 7kg load of towels (spun @ 1400rpm) in approx 100 minutes.
HP dryer meanwhile takes 130 minutes.
So from a purely mechanical perspective the wear and tear on these will be far greater, prompting an increase in breakdowns and a reduced service life. The HP dryer costs considerably more than the conventional condenser dryer at present. But the attraction toward their ‘A’ energy rating will prove a popular choice. Though once the public get to work on these heaven only knows what the future holds for every field service engineer in dealing with the breakdowns?

Only pulling your leg Ken 😀 You’re dead right about forfeiting future revenues if we shy away from new technologies.
I’m sure as Martin says, the significant energy savings will make HP driers popular, just a shame about the downsides.June 2, 2015 at 12:41 pm #391091Muv
