…but then having disconnected the heater terminals and made wiring safe did you then turn it on and try a cold wash?
The resistance of the NTC by the way is OK.

I have now run a cold wash with all wiring discoonnect from the heater. It fills via the prewash inlet and then stops with E10.
I also rechecked the thermistor and it seems OK.January 18, 2018 at 5:06 pm #452844Martin

OK, this is getting a little complicated. E10 is a filling problem so you need to check out the water inlet valve. Maybe the main wash valve isn’t working? Meanwhile reconnect the heater as I think that line of enquiry could be a red herring.

The solenoids on both valves are showing continuity on the meter. I replaced the original which failed several months ago

To check that the valve actually works on both pre-wash and main wash inlets, I modified the pre-wash connector slightly and switched the connectors. The main wash inlet proceeded to fill properly.

Just to close this out, after testing/trying just about everything else, I thought that it could be that the pressure switch reservoir was clogged up. So, I poured a kettle of boiling water into the machine to loosen the possible clog. That worked, so the machine is now functioning. Before washing anything, I did a full boil wash cycle with detergnet only.
Thanks to all for your advice.June 24, 2018 at 4:04 pm #452848davewash

The above post was over-optimistic. The machine failed again a short while ago and it turned out to be the heater thermistor, which must have been revivified when I extracted it and then checked it.
So, I fitted a replacement new heater which has fixed it.
Thanks again to all. -
