    Woha!

    I missed this thread. 😕

Why buy a modem? Just use Bluetooth to link to your phone and use the 3G capability on that via Bluetooth and pay for the data instead of paying for a modem as well as your phone.

That’s all I do when I can, save lugging about something else as well as the rest of the kit too.

Works on PC and MAC as I use both.

If however, like me, you use a 2.5G phone like an iPhone then you need a 3G modem or a wireless connection but there shouldn’t be a need for it if you have a 3G HSPDA enabled phone.

Hotpnt I can understand as 3 well, isn’t the best carrier will we say for coverage. 😉

But if you can do without the dedicated modem you can save a fair bit of cash by just using your phone as the modem and only pay for the data.

Goose the Airbook is nice, I use the Macbook Pro because I like having my ROM drive and some other toys. And, you can run Windows stuff on the Intel based ones quite nicely if you want either native using Boot Camp or brilliantly using Parallels 3.0. 😉

So does the Orange one. 😉

Vodafone coverage is patchy in many areas as well. 🙁

By the sounds of it they are all using the same program to work on the pc and the same usb pack (a short and long usb cable).

3 does not only use 3G for its connection to bb, it is fast and I have found very few areas it doesnt work too well and would definitely recommend it if its the cheapest service, if voda or orange were doing the same price though I would get theres just for the fact that the call centres are british.

Have been using the modem on the laptop while on the road for the last few days. Seems to work OK in most places and shows a connection speed of 7.2Mbps is that about the right speed? Customers have been impressed when I price and order parts while at the job and can guarantee to return the next day if ordered from M/P and it before3 PM.

T Mobile if you go over your download limit they give you a ticking off but dont charge you, most of the others will charge as soon as you go over it mind you i,ve never been near it to worry about it.
