How big is this thing? is it like a turkey baster? would it hold a cup of water for instance? I got quite a large syringe from a vet once but they are not made for long term use, the rubber end always stuck inside syringe & handle pulled off..

I use the syringe a great deal but I also use one of these. Stick one end in the sink or down the trap and pump away!. brilliant for those washing machines or dishwashers full of lots of water when you stick the waste pipe in bowl and nothing comes out 😥 .Then get the rest of the dregs out with the syringe. 😉 sorted

    Re: large syringe

The bosch item numbered above is a 100ml item and fits nicely in the toolbox. The Bosch price is a shocking £19.21 inc vat handling to non account holders, (usual discount applies for account holders). they dont last forever as, if like me you use them to suck the dregs out of a dishwasher, the ruuber seal deterioates pretty fast.

Watch this space for a better deal!?

a little tip to keep the rubber on your syringe from sticking, and being pulled off. is to spray inside tube with a silicon based furniture polish.
keep to the good brands though. J***S**S. not a lot a people know that..

I agree, I found this tool invaluable on dishwashers when I was ‘on the tools’.

    Martin,

Isn’t Vaseline petroleum based? It used to be.
If so then surely it will quicken the deterioration of the rubber seal?
Or am i missing the point of the ‘wink’?!

    All the best, all.

    Gertrude,

The seal in question is not made of rubber but neoprene (aka polychloroprene) :lesson:

Please look closely at the photo above the 60 to 80ml markings you will see the wording “LATEX FREE”. Besides, you cannot use rubber on a sterile surgical syringe such as this! 8)

I’ve kept an old knackered syringe working for many months by lubricating it regularly with olive oil. Usually the customer’s!

    Have a look at E-bay.

Put syringe in the search and you will be surprised.

    Got mine there.
