ParticipantEvening all,
Having dragged our machine apart only a month ago to remove a scrap of fabric jamming the drain pump now its died again!
Fills and drains but the drum doesn’t rotate. Its a good 8 years old but has worked fine until very recently.
PNC no is 914 002 562 00
I’ve managed to get a a C5 error code from the service menu – at least I think I have:
press top 2 buttons and rotate dial one step anti clockwise.
release buttons and turn dial to wool 40
This gives C5 on the readout and 2 flashing lights. So from here C5
Overheat sensor on main motor activated
Main drive motor faulty
So I’ll drag it out again but might it be the brushes or just the motor itself (barring just loose connections)?
Any info gratefully received.

Brushes the first thing to check at that age. 😉

Several different types of motor used on these Zannusi based machines.
You need to remove the brushes first, make a note of any name on the motor and compare them HERE

Thanks. The ad on this page (in my browser at least) is for the link you have given.
I’ll take it apart and have a look.November 4, 2013 at 4:34 pm #403664dkl1971

ok, dragged the motor out. Umpteen nos on it but the label says:
FHP motors
U2Z 112 G63 084502
5R 084502 683 FI 1428
110 536 110I’m hoping that means something.
There is also evidence of a little water having evaporated from the base of the machine. Any chance I have left a small leak when I did the pump and this has allowed enough water to damage something?

THESE should be the ones you need.
Any leaks from the pump area should not be able to get onto the motor, removing the old brushes and checking them is the first thing to do.
You will need to monitor the leak.

I’ve just taken the brushes out and there is about an inch of carbon when fully extended. They don’t look that worn out to me?

Hmm, does look as though the motor is goosed. 🙁
An electrical test would confirm if the motor overload had failed.

Can I do that? Or if I ask the question it means I probably can’t which is distinctly possible!

What are the ends of the brushes like, are they smooth and shiny or very rough and pitted? if they are as long as you say then it does point towards a motor failure with a C5 error code.

Brush ends are nice and smooth.
I ran it again on short spin and whilst it drains and the motor buzzes somewhat it doesn’t turn.
I’m sure there is power to it.
Are replacement motors available and cost effective?November 4, 2013 at 7:18 pm #403671iadom

Neither of THESE is your exact motor but it will give you some idea of the kind of money you are looking at.

It seems that electrolux think the motor has a code of
1105361107 which matches what is on my sticker except the extra 7 on the end. They want £152 for one so that must be full whack – any hints as to where I might find a slightly more reasonable one?November 4, 2013 at 7:34 pm #403673 -
