KeymasterAs most of you will know from the mailing list the site and the list are both very kindly hosted by Li from Laser and he refuses to take any money from me for all the work he’s done for us, including a little for the Network DASA project. Now, me being me, doesn’t want to take “no” for an answer on it really and I think we can all see, especially those of us involved in running the site and the ND project that Li has gone *way* beyond the call of duty in all this.
So here’s the plan…
What we came up with was everyone donating a few quid to Li’s Xmas Fund, if he chooses to spend it on his kids or give it to a charity that’s his call but, personally, I feel it’s only fair and proper that we at least make the gesture and I know it will be appreciated as well.
So I guess we can all afford to stick £5 or £10 in an envelope to the nominated treasurer of the fund, which is JP (whom I elected and he didn’t say no, plus he’s an all round good spud) so we can present it nearer to Christmas time. I don’t want to handle any money for the site, I never have and I never intend to either and I don’t want to be in a position where my integrity can be questioned, hence doing it this way.
Anyway, I hope that a lot of you will agree to this and send in a donation as I really think it’s next to nothing as individuals to do this but it would mean a lot to Li and I really believe that UKW is worth the effort.
So unless anyone has a better plan?

ParticipantYes, this was mentioned before on the mailing list after Li helped us out when the Yahoo forum mysteriously closed down.
As the guy is in business and gives us his services and a lot of bandwidth free of charge is to his credit and a show of appreciation from us would be the very least we can all do.
I would just like to say that UKW is, and always will be free of charge to it’s members, this is a gesture of goodwill to say a big thank you to Li and is purely voluntary.
Let me know the address to send my contribution please.
Dave.

KeymasterOnce a treasurer always a treasurer it would seem . I suppose I had better buy a large safe to hold all the generous donations I can expect to receive over the coming weeks.

JP – Would it be possible for you to post the amount donated to Li and those that have done so. I’d hate to think we undervalued his labours and Id be happy to donate abit more if required. Cheers – Bonz

KeymasterWell I remembered to do this earlier today…FINALLY! Sorry, I’ve been a bit busy of late.
Good idea on listing who’s donated a few bob to the cause although please don’t percieve it as a “name & shame” list as there are many people on here that won’t have a clue what we’re on about.
I know you’re all busy as I am and it’s asking a bit of you, but please can you donate a few quid as the effort that Li and Trevor have put in is *way* beyond what I’d have expected if we’d been paying for a service like this let alone getting it allfor free essentially.
