ParticipantDishwasher is about 7 years old, model number 973804386 (from the label on the door, but that looks more like a date code), manufacturer unknown, but says “Made in Italy”. It is an integrated type dishwasher.
It’s been getting noisier in the last few months, but started tripping the RCD a few weeks ago. Eventually, it stopped pumping out & there is a loud humming noise when it tries to start the wash pump cycle.
Found the wash motor was siezed, leaks from the impellor seal had done in the bearings. Managed to unstick the motor, greased it up & got it going again while I find a replacement motor + impellor kit.
Problem is, no one seems to know what make/model it is. It was fitted by a kichen company no longer in business. The motor is made by a company called SOLE (also in Italy), the motor part number is 21673019.
Did some web searches, similar motors seem to be used in Zanussi models. Found a very similar motor sold by CPC, not quite the same; part number 21673022. CPC were not able to advise me if this new part was a replacement for an older part or supply any other information.
My question, does anybody know where I can get a replacement motor (Maker = SOLE,part number = 21673019), & I probably need to change the Impellor also?
If anybody knows what make/model this is (suspect it is a generic brand) that would be a big help in tracking down spare parts.
Best Regards

Gerryo,
Why bother to try to get what will be an expensive replacement on a machine that is 7yrs old anyway? Whats the state of the other components like by now ❓
It’s probably a Hygena or Diplomat I guess 🙁

It’s not an MFI/Diplomat model with that serial number, more likely it’s a Merloni, Nardi or Fagor.
I can try and identify for you, I’ll need some pictures though:
One of the control panel (buttons etc) and one of the motor/pump itself.

ParticipantIf it’s a Zem Sole motor it should be strippable for replacement of bearings and seals. We repair a few like this every year.

Thanks for all of the replies.
The machine is in pretty good shape (top basket is getting a bit rusty). The door seals are OK, no problems with the soap dispensor & it does a good job cleaning.I suspect it is a Merloni. I can probably take a few pictures over the weekend. The controls are located on the door top edge, all are push buttons, no rotary dials.
If you take a look at this link (CPC), that is a fairly similar motor.
http://cpc.farnell.com/productimages/cp … 237244.jpg
except the mountings are different, & mine looks smaller (hard to tell, the picture’s not great).
I’m pretty sure I need a new impellor + seal kit also, as leaking seals (caused a plastic part warping) will wreck a new (or rebuilt) motor fairly quickly.
Economically, if the cost of the replacement parts comes to nearly half the cost of a new machine, repair looks less attractive, but at the same time, junking a machine with several more years of service left is a shame.

Ok, got some pictures of the controls + internals, but was not able to dismantle the machine to get the motor (it’s operational & working quite well, if a little noisy).
I don’t have a web page to display these, anyone know of a service that hosts images for a short duration?

Its deffo a Merloni we used to see them as servis , The filter and the strange thing on the top spray arm return gives it away.
The motor is mounted by the impellor plate that has either six holes or five holes I would guess by the age its a five ,Part no’s are
five hole/leg mounting with impellor and plate 720054000
six hole/leg 720030300Hope that helps

Well, it throws the Smeg theory out of the window 😆
I know the one’s you mean though, which would explain why Gerryo saw a likeness with the Zanussi one, the impellor is not encased when the motor is removed as it fits directly in to a chamber on the sump.
We just need Gerryo to confirm how many fixings it has.
Dave.
