Just writtten a cheque out to Merloni Electtrodomestici UK Ltd for Β£99.88 with trembling hand.
What for?
Why just for the delight of looking up their parts listings for the next 6 months….!
When my next customer phones to say “What’s your Call-out Fee?”
I shall reply “Β£99.88, todays special offer Madam!”Martin

I received my Partfinder 11 (Issue 2) today and I must say that a great deal of improvement has been made since Issue 1.
When you click on say, Motor, for example it actually goes straight to the motor section at last. Even gives pretty photo’s in many cases too!
Brian and his team are getting there, we just need things like Wiring Diagrams, Test Sequence Charts and possibly Fault Codes adding on to make the perfect package. That would in my mind make Merloni more creditable and create better cooperation within the trade.

One slight problem I have discovered since my last posting: –
When you click on ‘VIEW DRAWING’ then ‘FULL SCREEN’ then wish to click on ‘PREVIOUS’ or ‘NEXT’ the Parts List Screen pops up and covers the other half of the screen back up!!!!
Oh Dear, those software engineers need a slap for that!

I got the same here, not a big problem. It does take ages to download now though. Can’t give my customer a quick quote now. Must get a faster PC I guess but I’m skint.

If you mean the time it takes for it to actually start up, it’s not you’re PC, it’s seems to be something to do with Win XP if that’s what you’re running. Mine is exactly the same, and so is the MFI software which is written by the same company. It was fine under Win98.
Dunno why π

I don’t know whether MFI Extracare supply the disk to anyone but account holders and agents but you can give them a try, phone number is 0845 7959722 option 3. If they aren’t forthcoming let me know and I’ll see what I can do. It’s called “Identiffier”.
Should be around Β£25 ish I think.

My Merloni CD Rom needs renewing ..AGAIN π
As I haven’t as yet gazed at the new range of machines, I am dying to know if the new ‘First edition/Aquarius/Ultima range have the same crappy features of the WMA series???
(The best bit being the combined ‘Sump Trap/Ball Valve and Air pressure chamber unit of the WMA getting blocked and causing servicing nightmares as to how to get rid of the flooded water in the drum prior to actually removing the sump bits……Have they kept that design masterpiece in the new ones….Oh…and the ‘Drum Lifters’….Are they plastic…??)
So much to look forward to from the next Partfinder π

Brian,
Got my ‘Issue 3’ today (same price as issue 2 though π ) but at least you have reduced the charge for each additional user from Β£20 to Β£5 so that is a relief and thanks for that π
All those new models on there, each with their own ‘Service Manual’ @ Β£15 a throw π― How nice it would be if we could have all this info on a future CD/DVD eh? or cheaper and better still off the Merloni website (downloadable PDF files – brilliant π‘ )
Issue 4 perhaps β π

Yeah, I installed issue 3 earlier.
Try physically ordering a manual for an Indesit W123UK (not that I want one, I was just testing) by hitting required and see what happens. If you don’t have a GDA account you won’t normally use that funcion, just the part number identification.

Good Lord!
I see what you mean Dave. When Brian said that manuals were available for most* if not all models, I guess he didn’t realise us guys out here were excluded?
By virtue of the fact they allow us to order parts from information gained by purchasing their CD Roms, sadly without the technical information that should be available we are still, on the dark side of the moon π
Martin
*It works the same for many of the later Manuals on the issue 3 by the way π
