As of about two weeks ago UKW became my employer. Therefore I now have a vested interest in making sure that things go as I think that they should.
Spares sales is a commercial thing to a large degree, with the exceptions being that anyone can sell a spare off the site, as has been shown to happen on countless occasions, so there is opportunity there for anyone that wishes to invest some time in it. Also, there is the subscribers stock etc. which we will advertise and move for people should they wish, the intent being to turn dead stock into pound notes (or AUS dollars ;)) for the benefit of the trade.
To achieve either requires some form of catologing of the items coupled with good descriptions, information and search. Otherwise, you’d never sell very much.
The spares@ email and PM’ing of Dave already happens a lot as many people here simply don’t want to know about selling spares and do recommend that they use Dave/UKW. Simply this is because Dave is bloody good at what he does and there’s rarely any compliant, only praise, for the service. Since the customer gets a good service and has no beefs it only serves to make us all look more proffessional, thanks largely to Dave’s efforts.
We do have aims and objectives, the one main aim is to make the trade better for the independent repairers by whatever means necessary. There are plans to advance that but they are commercially sensitive at best, one of the big ones will be unvieled (I hope) in September at the next meet. Hence we want as many there as possible.
Training will be expanded in time we hope.
We are also working on IT systems.
We also have buildings to get sorted to do all this.
We are working towards actual real qualifications.
As you can see, we’ve got a bit of work to do. 😉
I don’t want to rule the world, I don’t even want to rule this world as such. I do however fully intend leaving it in a far better conditions than I found it and, I think, that’s as much as I can do. If, as planned, all the guys manage to gain from that as is the intent, then great, I did what I set out to do.
I won’t kick you off at all Alexa, I like to be challenged from time to time as it makes me focus.

Back to the subject at hand…
I’ve now added some “quick links” onto the spares supply page, hopefully that’s easy to see and use.
Meanwhile, Trevor is having a look at various solutions for the shop issues and we’ll get a report on that soon enough I expect.

Okay, that’s some little buttons on the home page to draw attention to some of the stuff there and each one, bar the red AOL one, leads to a relevant section. These are easily changed now that the code is there either as a group or individually.
What I’d like (Martin.. nudge, nudge ;)) is a set of graphics that we can use throughout the site for various articles to denote their meaning. Very simple stuff along the lines of the ones in the shop would be ideal and if I have time I’ll look at making some up as Kevin would have my nether regions if I ordered a load! 😆

Okay, in response to some of the nit picking… :rotl:
I’ve started a new FAQ section with “Site Problems” on it. Dave, you’ll probably recall more than those but those were the biggies I could remember for now.
Anything esle in the FAQ that needs reviewed or re-done, please speak up.
