Oh, don’t worry about that, I’m not of the “sue ’em” mentality! I take responsibility for my actions, both good and bad. 🙂

Feel free to PM me full details. 🙂

Yes the evaporator is behind the rear plate and insulation.

But, 99/100 it’ll be the PCB on these things, which is this one but obviously I can’t 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} guarantee that. I would be pretty confident that is the problem though as I said.

Thanks, a pity that I can’t borrow one just to try it out – I don’t want to spend nearly 80 quid on one only for the fault to continue, and the law of sod says that I’ll be unlucky. 🙂

You need to trace out the wiring but most of them are on connector blocks at the back of the freezer and at the PCB.

I’m trying to avoid pulling out the unit as it’s so well integrated, but will do so if necessary.

Thanks for all your help. 😀

    Hi Buttons,
Only just seen your cries for help.Dont know what you have replaced if anything yet.Have repaired loads of these. All you need to replace is the defrost sensor,in the freezer. You can join it inside using heat shrink. If you need it I can get the part number.Hope this helps

    HI All,

My situation is identical to these Pics.
    Did you find a solution?
    PCB or Defrost Sensor.

    Any help appreciated

    Hi,

In the Self Help section of the website you will find an article I put up recently to help with frost free fridge freezer problems in general. There’s loads of articles in there that will help diagnose most common appliance problems.

You can find it on this link to Understanding & Fault Finding On Frost Free Refrigeration.

That explains the basics and, many of the blow out diagrams used are very similar to this model which, to be honest, is pretty straightforward.

I’d study that first as well as the article about thermistors and with all that information you should be able to track down the fault yourself.

I’m kind of thinking of replacing the whole unit to be honest – I would just replace the PCB but on the off-chance that it’s NOT that I don’t fancy blowing 80 quid on something which doesn’t fix the fault. It’s a pity that I can’t borrow one to try it. 🙂

I understand. Perhaps if someone else tried anything, they could let us know.

Hi Buttons like malile I have only just seen this posting.
It is like Malile said the fault is the no frost evaporator probe ( defrost sensor ) the old type is flat and cable tied to the evaporator near the top left hand side and can be joined and then covered with heat shrink. make sure the appliance is unpluged from the mains as this part stays live 240 volts even if you have the appliance turned of on the pcb.
The new type are round just in case you think any replacement you buy is not the same

My word, regular as clockwork – mine has just gone again, 12 days after the last ‘freeze up’, which in itself was 12 days after the freeze-up before that one ………

Think I’ll just replace it with a fitted fridge!

    Hi Buttons

Just make sure you follow the installation instructions on adequate ventilation as a duff install can lead to all sorts of problems later.

Neff is always a good place to start for a quality appliance without breaking the bank.

Thanks. Unfortunately none of the Neffs will fit into the space I have so I’m going for a Baumatic BR16.3A

    Hi

If it were me I would probably extend the warranty on a built in product of that calibre as they are not one of the best 😉 .

Just make sure whoever installs it gives it adequate ventilation.

Not one of the best? ANYTHING is better than the rubbish APM6855 that I currently have.

Besides, have read a lot of reviews on the Baumatic and they are all good to very good.

    Hi Buttons

I was going by previous experience of Baumatic lifespans :rolls: .

Yes I did see the reviews and yes I agree with whay you are saying. However no-one knows how long the reviewers have had the appliances so I guess time will tell on that one.

I wish you well with your purchase and hope it gives you good service.

They have started to use Haier for thier whitegoods.

Only time will tell if they live up to the Haier quality of jump out of the frying pan into the fire.
