Take a look at the Gorenje RKI4256W, comes with a five year full warranty as well.

It is rare to get a PCB problem on a APM6855 and if you replace the no frost evaporator probe correctly this normaly puts the problem right.
The only other common fault on this model and is normaly on the APM6855/1 is the fan motor fails.
To check if the fan motor is working if the compressor is running open the freezer door.
About halfway up on the right hand side wall inside the freezer you will see a small rectangle cover.
Put a magnet near this cover and you should here the fan cut in.
If the fan does not cut in the fan may be faulty or on the rare occasion it can be the sensor under this cover.
You can bypass the sensor if it is faulty by cutting it off and joining the wires together.
Make sure if you buy pass a sensor or replace a probe the mains supply is disconnected as the wires remain live even if it is turned off at the PCB

Sometimes on this model if the fridge does not work and ice is forming on the bottom of the freezer it will be the drain in the freezer blocked.
This is sometimes due to the heater lifting up from the drain hole.
If you turn off the fridge freezer for 48 hours with the doors open then this can cure the problem, but if the problem returns you will need to reposition the defrost heater.

Thanks for excellent post… When I defrosted last time the water built up inside and didn’t drain away so how do I reposition the heater and where is it?
I hope the heater isn’t faulty.

You have to remove the front panel in the freezer then remove the inner panel with the fan attached and unplug the fan.
The heater will be working ok as it is producing water.
If the heater is not working you only have fine white frost on the evaporator.
The heater also acts as a drain heater and the plate it is attached to has probably lifted up from the drain.
When the drain has defrosted pour an half an egg cup of water down it to make sure it’s clear.
You can put a small piece of copper wire such as the thick copper wire used on the mains for an earth, and put it in the drain hole and bend it around the heater carefully .
When the heater warms up the wire will warm up
and keep the drain from icing up even if the heater lifts up.Bob

Thank you.
How do you know it’s producing water? That water that was built up was from me defrosting with a hair dryer. Although when i left it for 24hours it drained on its own. The evaporator was a solid block of ice. The fan works fine I can hear it running.
Can u just explain what is wrong with the defrost sensor and why it isn’t working if u say the heater is ok? When I first moved in we turned the power off by accident to the fridge it was off prob an hour then 4 weeks later frozen up… Previous owners said they had no issue with it.

The drain will be blocked just turn it off and leave the doors open for at least 48 hours to fully defrost it then hopefully the problem will disappear .

So u don’t thin this sensor needs replacing cos the bottom of the coil where it would drain out is clear no ice it’s the evaporator that’s solid encased in ice?

If the heater is not working then you will get just a soft white frost.
If the drain is blocked you will get ice build up under the bottom basket in the freezer.
If the probe is faulty it will not stay on defrost long enough and ice will form.
If you defrost it for 48 hours and the problem returns you will need a new no frost evaporator probe.

Cool that’s what I have ordered should be here tmrw so I will try to it on my own but will pull it out inside. At end of model number inside fridge it says -1 so is it deffo the 0 I still have as the probe plugs in at the rear? Fitting it on my own.

How do I pull the fridge out? DO I have to take the doors off?

You will have to disconnect the fridge and freezer doors from the deco doors.
It depends on how good the appliance has been installed
But normaly it will be held in by 3 screws at the top and two brackets screwed to the outside cabinet in the centre of the fridge / freezer
You do not normaly need to remove the deco doors from the out side cabinet
and the doors are held to the deco doors with plastic sliders held with screws on the edge of the doorsBob

Thank you. To save time do I also have to defrost it fully after fitting the new sensor shouldn’t it defrost on its own now? About to do the work now and just wondered and if it won’t defrost by itself then why not? I can see the sensor so getting to it is not a problem.

It is best to defrost it just to give it a good start.
Defrost it first before fitting the sensor
Take the fridge freezer out of the cabinet first and before you lift it back in after fitting the sensor make sure the tray on top of the compressor is not too full of water.

UPDATE:
The sensor was a perfect fit well worth pulling fridge out to fit properly.
Plugged it back in while it was covered in ice… Freezer was reading +19c ad it started a defrost straight away… Within 10 minutes all ice had melted… How does the sensor know to do a defrost when it was at +19c?
Well impressed and well worth the £15 for the part and half an hours work.
