KeymasterWe have a Neff built in Oven Model B1430N0GB/01 FD 7603.
Grill Working. Oven Fan Working. Oven is not working i.e not heating up. Have set the controls to manual. Problem seems to have arisen after a temporary electricity shutdown.
Have browsed the forum and problem points to the heating element.
Spoke to our electrician and he said its probably cheaper to buy a new oven !!!Any advice, or help ??

your electrician is wrong its cheaper to pay someone to supply and fit element about £70

Fan oven element is p/no 493065, just under £40 from Bosch. It is entirely possible that a cheaper alternative part might be found through the spare@ facility on this site.
Your fitter will charge for an hours work, so determine the rate at the time of booking the call. Check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area if you are not going to attempt the repair yourself.
If you are going to investigate further, power off please :plug:

It is entirely accurate that it will be about half that price, I’ll add it to the shop@ in the morning and post the link up here 😀

Please note that the thread contains prices for both the genuine Bosch component and a pattern alternative from the spares@ service on the site.
Labour rates vary widely across the country, so there is little point in quoting them in a nation-, indeed, world-wide forum.
Price of fitting should always be discussed at the time of making an appointment for a repair.

Is it a fairly straight forward job to replace yourself ?
I am OK with electrics it’s just the complexity (or not) of accessing and exchanging the elemet as the same has happened to me
thanks

Happenned to me too. First look showed ring element furred up and fell to pieces in my hand. Only issue for replacing it seems to be getting enough access to the connections to replace it – it appears i may need to remove the oven and take the back panel off to access it sufficiently as element doesn’t pull far enough into the oven to expose the connections enough- Is that right or can I save the need to go and buy the right key and do it from inside the oven?!

Most NEFF fan oven elements are retained by nuts from the rear of the oven wall. Newer appliance can remove the element from the front. Rule of thumb – nut heads at the front – remove nuts from back. Screw heads at the front, remove it from the front.
Power off at all times :plug: …………….

I also have a duff Neff element in my B1430N0GB/02 oven which uses the same replacement part (which I have found for around £29 inc P+P and vat).
The only thing with this is that the part no longer has the earth tag (this is apparently how Neff are supplying them). I have been told to just strip the earth lead and wrap it round the element housing when re-fitting, does this sound right? If so, exactly where should the wire be wrapped round? Thanks

That’s correct. Put it on one of the fixing bolts with a suitable terminal 😀

Yeah the element is earthed sufficiently by the retaining screws.
Personally I jam the earth tag between the fixing bracket and the back panel.
Make sure power is off before removing anything :plug:
