ParticipantIf Nesn do go to the wall there is no doubt in my mind they would take Electrue and lots of Service agents with them ,I have been told what i am due from NESN for my coverplan work and that ties up with my ledgers ,but I was told it was dependant on what Electru/Coverplan pay them.
I had a meeting with Maria Whelan on Friday and she intimated that Nesn dont want to do the Coverplan work ( basically because its costing them too much ) But she did say that all the southern agents really like the work and want more.( I suspect along with everyone else this statement is a load of bollocks) Personally I don’t trust her at all. No doudt everything I said to her will be turned upside down ,twisted inside out and then reported back to JT.No doubt I wont be invited on to the board.August 23, 2003 at 5:44 pm #104402admin
Keymasternesn/electrue
Legally we will all have to settle our accounts and whilst Electrue will have to pay an appointed receiver, their debt to Nesn, Electrue will come for theirs off us all. This is business, friendships and bridge building hold no water in these circumstances.
We all will take a hit and although there might be a payment from Nesn’s receiver we do not know who they owe money to,but rest assured a company who have no resources to pay what they owe us are definitely in deep with the bank.We should all not expect anything in the scenario of Nesn going down.
The only way we benefit is through the back door and that is that you can offset bad debt against your profit to reduce your companys tax demand.Assuming you are making a profit. So if you want to trade you have to do the right thing and with-holding payment from Electrue is not the way………consider that they will survive and they will still be in the situation of needing contrct work done and they are as wise as all of us and are running what to do scenarios themselves.Don’t for one moment assume we are the only ones who think Nesn are doomed.(in 6 weeks just for Mark)

KeymasterLegally, yes you have to pay the account for goods bought whether you are reimbursed or not, unless it was a contra deal of sorts.
But willingness to pay and ability to pay are two entirely different things and I very much doubt, based on the margins and state of most agents in general, that they will be able to pay the debt. Ergo a lot of agents may well go to the wall rather than pay up leaving Electrue with a potentially massive hole!
Not a happy situation for anyone.

Keymastergoing bang
Assuming it stretches to our evening out, it is a subject we should run past dp on the night and one where we can help in advising all members effected to make sure they open dialogue with their creditors at the first sign of trouble.

KeymasterAnd again they call me chasing reports after I’ve already told them that they’re on stop. As I was saying to Dave earlier though, there was no surprise in the voice at all it appeared as if it was a routine thing that they were on stop.
Which makes me think a bit.

This may also explain the frankly fucking awful attitude of some of the retailers lately, we had one bitch yesterday from Empire Commercial who I eventually told to go away in no uncertain terms because of her accusations that I did not know how to run my own business, I ask you 24 hours, no contact and the customer was out all day anyway. 😡

KeymasterSee that pisses me off big time with all these sodding WP’s!
Why can they not simply give the punter our number? I’ll tell you why, because the said punters will whinge about having to make another call, that’s why! Yet we’re just supposed to jump and phone everyone the very second that the fax rolls through at OUR expense in both time and money. Then the silly sods complain when they don’t get an “instant” phone call even if, as has happened often with NESN, we don’t get the call till a day or two later.
Very annoying indeed.

K.They did ! She was an even bigger bitch than the one from Empire, no doubt the seeds were sown as usual that we are just lowly engineers and should bow and scrape to everyone’s shouting and then not expect any financial reward for our efforts.
Apparently she will tell her insurers that they should not use our services again due to our extremely poor service, you’ll have to excuse me while I pop out for the mansize tissues 😉

As far as I’m concerned it is bollocks and you don’t get much further south than here, and talking to my counterparts in the SE they are pretty much of the same opinion, Ms Whelan, as you say is a person not to be trusted IMO.
Talking regional, does anyone know if NESN have agents on the Channel Isles ? It would be interesting to see what their rates are 😉
