ParticipantDear all,
I’m looking for a new American style fridge/ freezer with a budget of ~ £700, I don’t want an ice/water dispenser. I have noticed certain models have problems, can anyone advise me of the best makes and models preferably below £700 in silver.
Thank you

The Samsung, LG and the Daewoo all come into that price range. For the price I would probably go for the Samsung. Another option wouldn be to up the budget a bit and go for the Admiral GC2224GEKW.

There seems to be an issue here. The Samsung 21 series introduced in 1999 (I think) suffered from a problem with the fan cover freezing internally and jamming the fan. This problem has been rectified by a modified cover offering more space and improved drainage.
The current range of appliances do not suffer from this problem. They do suffer from the problem that spares when required are coming from 8,000 miles away……
You can make your own mind up.
Cleverclogs123 + beetlebug, the point has been made, so you will stop now.

ParticipantSamsung appliances (when faulty) are repaired really well, id say RS21 series are one of the best ive come across, and when a sale comes along you can get them for 600 quid

I have been over ruled and the appliances she wants are the Samsung RS20CCMS5 American F/F as this does not have an ice/drinks dispenser as apparently we don’t need it and the Whirlpool ADP 6946 dishwasher. Are there any major problems with these? I know there not going to give the kind of reliability a Bosh dishwasher and Admiral/ Whirlpool F/F would. The good news is she likes the Bosch WAE 28162 washing machine as it has the express wash system.

Not that I know of, apart of what has already been said 😉 .

The SGS46E12 has all and more than the Whirlpool. Comes with two years on the warranty too.

Is it worth paying the extra and gettig the Bosh SGS65L28. The revews seem very positive. Is condenser drying better?

Looks nice with the hidden top mount controls, very energy efficient but do you need all the whistles and bells? I have always found our basic Bosch which dries by residual heat to be fine. However others may disagree 😉

Hi Penguin,
I have been suffering for years with the problem you describe and it has cost me bundles in spoilt food and call out charges. I have spoken to Samsung on several occasions and they do not acknowledge this as a known fault and just provide an engineer to contact. Today, having seen a BB comment about the fault, the samsung Repair Agent swapped over the whole evaporator panel and fan for a later (modified) design. I am now expecting them to bill me over £100 unless Samsung foots the bill which I think is the very least they can do. Can you give me any advice? Thanks
