    Re: New Premises

It is sponsored by P&G that is very true and they do have a vested interest in making sure that we advise customers correctly, there’s nothing wrong in that and there’s no compromise in doing so. What it does offer us is the ability to deliver other training alongside that which may be more in the direction that you are looking for it although, to be fair, there’s a lot to be learned from the likes of P&G.

It is not about selling powder persay, it is about getting the correct information to customers through engineers. The major side effect of which (for us a big plus) is that the engineers then seem far more competent to the customer and so, they’re far more likely to call you back for other problems as the “that guy knew his stuff” effect kicks in. In a measured analysis P&G got something like a 35{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} increase in customer satisfaction with the engineer where they had been product trained.

It’s this simple, if the guys get training and know that they have backup they are far, far more confident and that shows with customers.

Funny you should mention cooking though. 😉

So, currently on my wish list of things to do with this is…

    Cooking, basic training.
Megger and meter, basic use and safety.
    IT skills, basics.
Wash cycle, how it works (and that ties in nicely with the P&G stuff)
Dishwashers, de-mystifying as a lot of engineers are shit scared of them.

None of which will earn the guys an NVQ, but it should make them more confident and knowledgable which, to my mind, holds a massive value in itself financially. The nice bit, for the likes of you Phil, is that you should be able to target the training to the engineers that you think desperately need it first and catch up on others as and when.

Plus there’s no cost, someone else is footing the bill so there’s not a lot to lose by it is there?

Cooking was just an off the cuff comment , but spot on with dishwashers and anything electronic …

But there still does seem to be critism directed at UKW and this deal with P&G, the sooner you go public and explane whats happening to the masses the better….

Yeah, it’s taking some organising along with all the other things we’ve been up to.

From whom? I’ve seen nothing, heard nothing and been sent nothing other than the comments made here and it’s not as if I’m hard to get a hold of is it?

The training is pretty well documented within the forums already, the remit of the trainers and their purpose was described within the forums, splattered over the front page and also in a job advert that ran for weeks, what’s not to understand?

    Re: New Premises

Okay, this went way off course, but that’s okay.

I’ve just spent three days with the trainers and I think, just IMO, that they’ll do a superb job and that’s there’s a lot to be learned from them for all of us let alone the engineers generally. Sometimes we’re not just as smart as we like to think we are. A point that Sean came up with an idea to prove beyond all doubt with benefits, as usual we take an idea and it gets “morphed” into something more than the sum of the parts.

I can also tell you that the trainers now have more than a little bit to think about. 😉

They also came up with some cracking ideas themselves, again, we take the parts and comments…

Anyways, the show must go on and to that end we’ve now got a live land line and it is… 01563 559600 for the UKW office if any of you want me for anything. That number can also reach David who will book you training sessions should you want them, but it is only availabel here for now, I’ll change the contact details once it’s fully up and running as well as manned all the time as we’ve a bit of running about to do next week. In due course there will also be an 0845 number to reach that line and, all going well, we should be able to patch you to Dave or Kevin from there as well. Technology, gotta love it.

From what I’ve seen and heard, the P&G wash training you really, really don’t wanna miss and it may also offer a few clues in certain future directions with other projects.

What I would ask of you is that if you’ve got any old training videos etc. that you let me have a copy if it’s possible as we may be able to utilise them as opposed to gathering dust on a shelf.

I’d also like to say that we’re only at the start of all this and what we’re trying to do so a bit of support would be appreciated if you can see your way to giving it. I know you guys are behind what we’re doing and I also know that you may be a bit pissed that I’m not giving away too much just yet, but you’ll understand why after Sibson that I just can’t do it. Outside the directors there’s maybe six people that know what’s coming and none of those are the trainers, so don’t bother grilling them. They can’t tell you what they don’t know.

The core “thing” with UKW remains, we’re on the side of the independents and that will remain so long as I draw breath so just trust me a little on all the cloak and dagger stuff for a bit please.

Like I said, we’re only at the start now as we’re getting finance now to do what needs to be done to fight the bastards that want to take our money and I do not waste resources and, with me and Kevin in particular, there’s normally a sub-plot and it is always to offer something to the independents in some fashion, we just think that way. So think happy thoughts, give us a little lattitude and all will become clear in time and, when it does, it’s going to be like a revelation leaving you wondering why no-one has done it before now I hope.

And that’s only the biggie for Sibson this time around. 😉

Office phone sorted, but we’re all out on Tuesday. 🙁

Also no internet connectivity yet either, hence the late posts catching up. 😕
