ParticipantNo heat on the drying cycle. Bosch WVD24520GB/01. Heating element looks OK – 34 ohms. Cutout OK ( 0 ohms ), Tried a new Sensor. No mains on the element. Any ideas?

Possibly open circuit wiring or a faulty PCB. Check for bad connections / soldered joints on the PCB & also the Heater relay ? by replacement.

Where is the heater relay?

On the PCB, if your not sure then follow the Heater wiring back to the PCB & from there to the control relay. What sensor did you replace ? are you talking about the dry heat thermistor ? If you’ve replaced that checked the wiring, element & cutout then your really only left with a PCB fault.
Please note that there’s no need for you to do any Live testing & unless your trained / qualified to do so then it’s a Dangerous practice.

Have received new Module Control unit, but it has what looks like a plastic motor on the back & has one plug socket missing. Bosch No. on mine is 5560 008 194. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have been sent the wrong part, you need to check with your supplier.

Cutout OK ( 0 ohms ),
LOL

Fitted new Pcb ( module control ). Tried gentle heat program and got some blue smoke from somewhere. Still no voltage on dryer heater. Could it be the heating element even though it measures 34 ohms?

What happened with the control board you were sent ? Why did you go ahead & change the PCB ? Did you check everything such as the wiring, cutout etc as I mentioned in my 2nd reply ?. You still haven’t mentioned exactly what you have checked. When you installed the New PCB are you sure all connectors are re-connected in the correct places & the right way around ?

Cutout is OK, wiring is OK. What I would like to know is – could it be the heating element, it measures 34 ohms?

If you have 34 ohms across the element with the connection leads disconnected then the element is not open circuit, nor is it short circuit. Have you measured the resistance from each terminal to Earth either with a Multimeter set to it’s highest resistance range or preferably with a 500V Megger ?
Did you fit the PCB that you were talking about in an earlier post ?.May 25, 2013 at 9:44 pm #394476backman
ParticipantRe: No heat on washer/dryer
Yes I did the above but not with a Megger and it all looks OK. Yes I have fitted the new PCB. I am at a loss.

Ok you installed the New PCB, but why ? you already said it was different to the original PCB. Did you ask the supplier about that ? Did they explain why it was so different to the original ?
If it wasn’t the correct board then by powering it up you’ve probably destroyed the new PCB.May 26, 2013 at 6:54 pm #394478backman
ParticipantRe: No heat on washer/dryer
Clarification :- The Pcb ( module control ) that I said looked wrong was in fact the correct one with an extra part on it that is no longer used. Pcb measures appx, 6cm square and fits onto the main control PCB – also called “module control”, I have also changed this one but still no dryer heat. I am thinking of changing the element even though it looks OK.
