ParticipantHi all,
Firstly, great looking site, seems like I would find loads of info here.
Why I’m here?We have an Ocean WMP 1300A washing machine that has served us well of the past years.
As of yesterday the drum has stopped revolving. I have taken top off and it looks very clean inside, belt in place, filling emptying ok, so I am thinking after doing a bit more research that it is likely to be the fact that the motor brushes have worn out.
I could replace this no problem once removing and confirming they need replacing, but can’t seem to find any replacement bushes?Any ideas where I could find suitable replacements? Obviously anything that does the job would do, or is it time for a new machine? 🙁
TIA,
K

If you can remove the brushes complete with holders if it has them, and post pictures of the brushes and motor we may be able to advise further.

If you click on the ‘Additional’ tag on the page for those brushes you will get all of the known alternative part numbers, you may be able to source them elsewhere. 😉
However as you can see from THIS link you may end up paying more for the parts even with ‘free delivery’.
There are some on eBay that are much cheaper, Google is your friend.

Yeah, thanks for that.
I had already found ones on ebay that are the same price as just your postage, delivered.
Shame, if they had been cheaper postage I would have bought them off your site being an expat. 😉Thanks for all the help anyway, much appreciated.
Will let you know after they are installed if it fixes the problem.
Fingers crossed.February 16, 2016 at 7:08 pm #435360KBL

Just thinking ahead a bit here….
How difficult would it be to get a replacement more efficient/economical motor?

Not feasible, that motor is little different to motors fitted to most machines today apart from being better made.

Hopefully the new carbon brushes will arrive tomorrow.
With that in mind, before I replace brushes and reinstall motor, is there anything else I should do maintenance wise before putting it all back together.
Oil any bearings or similar etc?February 17, 2016 at 9:22 am #435364iadom
ModeratorRe: Ocean WMP 1300A
Clean the motor commutator and blow out all the old carbon dust. Unless the motor bearings sound rough or noisy then leave them alone.
