It really doesn’t to be honest…….But I’m thinking a power supply issue within the main board or some such is going on here perhaps? The fact that on restart it drains suggests it is going back to square 1. ‘Up the ladder then back down the snake’ effect…..very odd.:rolls:

Aye. That’s exactly what’s happening. It is going back to square one.
The stop happens at the same point in the 60 degree cycle each time, but did not happen in the 30 degree trial we tried yesterday. Could this perhaps indicate a temperature-related problem – perhaps the heating element thermocouple reporting over-temperature and shutting the whole thing down?
Much appreciation in this household for your interest.
We are in Hungerford. If you hear a loud thud from the north of you today, it’s just the AEG having been thrown off of a local cliff!

Update:
The problem is changing in nature. The machine now not doing any programme all the way through – stopping and going completely dead after about three minutes. We have unplugged it.

No, it’s not associated with temperature, I am more that certain the random shutdown indicates a main circuit board problem.:(

It has *recently* occurred to us….
Although, it has to be said, our AEG was German built and looked rather fine inside – splittable drum, nice suspension, quiet motor – but the cost of spares – stupids. Hotpoint really do not want you to get it fixt.
…and so we won’t.
…and neither will we play that game again.
Hello Miele W5780, hello 10 year parts and labour guarantee in with the purchase price!
