Yes thank you,
I renewed the element late p.m. and all well; oven now easily reaching, and maintaining high temperature.
One to be wary of in the future.
Best wishes,

Glad you got it sorted mate, have a good weekend.
Andy
Can you do me a favour mate & check the old element with your Megger, 500v L – E & N – E. Just for future reference.
Thanks: Andy

Hello again,
Yes, both readings are “OL” on my Martindale Insulation Tester.
The new element gave a very high resistance reading, (can’t remember the exact figure) although a new Hotpoint/Indesit element I tested the other day for comparison also read “OL”
Best wishes,
Jon

:hmm: But OL means ‘Out of range’, or in other words the meter is unable to give a true reading. 😕
May I just ask, without the test leads connected, when you press the 500v test button, what does your Martindale read then?

If it’s like the Martindales i’ve had, it means that there’s an open circuit.

Hello again,
The meter reads “OL” with the leads disconnected.
A little confusing as meter read “OL” on a new Hotpoint element!

I have a slightly similar job ongoing at the moment. Customer say’s her 18mth old neff grill element isn’t giving enough heat output and not glowing red.
I’ve only had to change elements that where open circuit or tripping due to low insulation in the past, this is a new one on me 💡February 15, 2011 at 12:31 pm #344260Martin
