ParticipantI have a customer Pestering me for the past five weeks about this appliance i haven’t been to inspect it as iv failed to find the model she reckons its about 20 years old and A cold fill.
so i told her to email A pic Of it .
judging by the picture the appliance has all ready failed the visual inspection :eeek:
Hi Paul,
thanks for posting this on the forum.Details are as follows:
Servis Compact 386
H = 650mm
W = 450mm
D = 390mmCold fill only
2kw heater
spin 550 prm
27 litre drum
max load 2.5kgWhats wrong with it: its only washing on cold, whatever temperature its set at. Water fills, drum turns and spins fine. I’m hoping that its the heater thats gone and, as parts for this machine seem to be no longer available, that a generic heater would fit. It was working until last summer then we stored it in the shed over winter. We only have space for a compact, otherwise I’d buy a normal size one.
Many thanks

Wouldn’t it be easier and safer to call to the client, once they agree the call out charge, safety test it first, find the fault and then if its the heater either post a photo here or search suppliers.
Even if they buy a part and they fit it, it could come back to bite you if something goes wrong, remember you have a duty of care, plus you know its a dog, you couldn’t possibly claim to deny it now you put it on the net. 😆
Its obviously a Servis, its obviously old and I would be surprised if its safe to use.
Personally I’d walk away, then again I view my job as a way to pay bills and not a hobby.

By the looks of their warning notice they have the machine hooked up to the (15amp ?) Immersion heater circuit.
Nice. 😯

looks very familiar, but not with a Servis badge on it (which looks like its just been stuck on recently anyway) If its a Bendix then the air bell will be blocked and subsequntly the heater blown. Barge pole job IMO.

Yep a compact Servis, Not the latest but the one pree 1991. I have all the tech info in the loft but the chances of locating parts is remote now. It was made in Switzerland IIRC. As lee says call out and find what’s gone. A nicely made machine and worth a repair if poss 😆

If you get stuck garn try using your right hand, that’ll work I’m sure… :clown:
Also I think it may just still be possible to fit a pattern heater and get away with it. But as yet I don’t think you’ve checked if there is 240 going to the heater anyway have you?
