Nope. Read up above again. 🙂
Quality of dampers, quality of springs (if used), quality of panels, quality and design of the worktop… all these things and more have an effect on noise level, many can be fine in a soundproofed test booth but, when used in the real world with a load in the machine the story can be a tad different.
You can also bet that the machines are tested empty for sound as that cuts out vibration. Hardly allows for a fair comparison don’t you think? 😉
Which is why I very often find myself telling people to ignore the db ratings as they do not offer a fair comparison between machines IMO.

Ok i’ve been doing some searching and the Bosch WFR 3269 Logixx 1600 looks like a good machine. Anyone had any experience with it?
Strangely I can only find it for sale at a place called R&M Direct. Anyone know if that company is reliable? Or recommend another retailer that sells it?

Top of the range stuff, good choice!

It precedes earlier models using the same infrastructure that’s been very reliable as Bosch generally are.

Company reliable?….dunno? If your selected machine is only sold through them and you want it badly enough I guess you have to take on face value? Buying direct from the Internet has its risks, does not give personal service, cheap and cheerful, dumped on your doorstep stuff is all you get!
Local independent retailers however treat customers on a very personal level, very attentive, offer an excellent service, deliver, install and all at very competitive prices for the complete package. Very often, whilst a local Bosch dealer may not have that model in stock, may easily order one for you. 🙂
Better still, try the ISE machine ( http://www.iseappliances.co.uk) It’s just what you need, quite, AAA rated, delivered and installed free of charge by your local engineer, personally. Recommended by Which? too they are, you can’t go wrong there! 😉

The WFR3269 is now discontinued with no stock left at Bosch. The WAS32466GB is the replacement model which is available as I write. It is a problem at this time of year for the manufacturers to keep their websites up to date as the model changes take effect and stock becomes available.

The top-end models from Bosch, Siemens and Miele, apparently have a very quiet induction motor. Ordinarily, most models have a quiet, direct current-controlled brush motor.

KeymasterCool well I’m going to be going for Bosch.
The model Martin recommended on the first page of this topic seems to be the best bet.

I’m not aware of any Siemens induction motor but looking closely at the top end have found that this machine is as good as it gets (with a price tag to match)…

71dB noise level on full spin, double glazed porthole door and the whole cabinet inside is lined with a sound deadening felt lining.
They don’t come any quieter that this baby…… 8)

I recently bought a Bosch WAS 32466 which is the same model but with an even higher spin speed. I previously had a WFP3300 which was the then top of the range machine.
The new model is noisier without doubt. The old machine was ridiculously quiet. However, its only in the spin cycle that you really notice any noise from the machine and once it has achieved the final spin speed its generally quiet.
During the wash cycles the loudest sound is that of the water running in so it really is no bother at all. Im very happy with the performance of the machine and it feels well built.

I had a look at the Bosch brochure that Mum had from last year. It states that the then top model (Logixx 1600) had an asynchronous motor; making it it quieter than the regular machines.
I’m sure Siemens has stated something similar in the past, with their “IQ Series”.
