Re: Recommendations for a washer/dryer please.

I went out and choose the new machine yesterday. 😀
I got it down to the Miele 504 £499 and the Siemens WXLM148A £399 (both included 5year guarantee and delivery).
I almost went for the Miele but then I realised that the flush shape of it would cause problems in the space in my kitchen ( The door hinges of the existing covering door and the plinth would foul). So I’m happy with the Siemens, it should be good, if not quite as good as the Miele but it does have a 6Kg drum and is £100 cheaper.

Thanks for the ISE information but I’d already left home before you posted. The ISE brand and concept does sound very good though. I shall get any friends and family to consider one if the need arises.

Thanks for all your contributions, I’ve learnt a lot in 3 days
    😀

Glad to have been able to help. After all that`s what we`re here for.

The Siemens is a great choice

    Hi All,
I appreciate that these posts are nearly 6 months old so I thought I would check if the information still holds – plus another couple of Q’s.

I’ve got an old warhorse (Hotpoint) washer that I’m thinking about repairing (again – it’s 15 years old!) but just in case I can’t repair it we went to John Lewis today to take a look at the price a new one.

Weighing everything up and reading your recommendations I must say that I was tempted by a Siemens WXLM148A. This is currently at £399 but for a limited time they are including 5 years’ warranty – parts and labour. Sounds good to me – but is this really a good deal? How much is the extra warranty really worth and would I be better spending £100 less on a Bosch with only 2 years’ warranty????? 😕

Lastly – after the 5 years of warranty…. if the brushes in the motor wear out – can I change them or is it one of these jobbies where you have to replace the whole motor? Am not especially interested in throwing the whole motor away when it’s only the brushes that are worn out. 🙁

Ta in advance for all advice

    Doug
