    Those were before photos.

All sensors have been plugged back in. I know it’a a bit fiddly with the light panel but they are definitely back in.

With the door open, and pressing in the light switch, I can hear the fan kick in, the fan is on pretty much all of the time. The fan on the cover moves freely. when I was de-icing the defroster with a hair dryer, I gave the fan a blast in case it was jammed but it spun freely and and at high speed suggesting there is no ice.

I agree that the insulation on the bottom is in a bad state and whilst I know this can allow ingress of water in the air which can then turn to ice, it doesn’t lead me to believe it’s the cause of my woes, mainly being the digital display reporting an incorrect reading by a hefty margin. We’re now 6 hours in since rebuild and it states 22c on the display and yet we’re actually at -6c inside going by a portable thermometer.

Any more thoughts? I’m now having to resort to using a timer on the plug that allows frozen food in the fridge to defrost during the hours the unit is turned off. Freezer temp falls to -5c overnight before the timer kicks in and gets back to -18c. This means the unit is only powered up during:

    0600-0800
    1200-1330
    1800-2130

Not exactly the ideal way to operate a fridge/freezer but is now the only way I can stop items from freezing in the fridge 🙁

Test the fridge air sensor to see if you can get a reading on your multi meter. Double check the fridge evaporator sensor.

Normally you would get a fault code on the display with a fault but check. All the fans are working freezer fan motor, fridge fan motor and compressor fan motor.

Make sure all external pipework is now clear of fluff.

If the compressor gets hot you could also have a refrigerant fault but this is rare on a RS21

I have a similar situation (mentioned in the European section of the forum) with another Samsung American-style fridge/freezer, where the freezer defrost thermal fuse is blown. I fitted a mains timer that is set for 3 hours on and 15 minutes off. I suppose I could extend the ‘off’ period to allow more effective defrosting but it seems to be working fine as it is.

This will be frozen and you will need to defrost it.

This is the first sign the insulation on the panel behind the cooler is breaking down and you will need a new panel.

Hi. I have a samsung rsh1dtsw american style fridge freezer with a similar fault (water dispenser not working, ice maker is fine), but the precooler does not appear to be frozen.
I have checked all the fuses on the main control board on the top of the fridge and the solenoid valves at the bottom, and stripped and cleaned the ice/water dispenser assembly and everything appears to be fine.
It seems to me to be an icing problem as described above, but precooler seems fine. Are there any other locations where the water line may freeze?
any help would be appreciated. thanks

Disconnect the water supply at the bottom of the door put the pipe that feeds water to the door in a cup and try to dispense water from the dispenser.

If no water comes out of the pipe then it will be frozen in the precooler or the solenoid fauty.

If water comes out of the pipe then it may be frozen in the door.
