ParticipantGood afternoon all,
Wondering if anyone can assist with the above problem?
Essentially, the machine fills, agitates, heats, and drains perfectly, but will not advance to fast spin.
I’ve also tried the washer on rinse and spin cycles, but when reaching fast spin stays on 10 minutes remaining…
I’m not sure if the motor or main electronic control module is faulty, as I’ve struggled to conclusively test these motors in the past.
Best regards,jonty

Moderatorassume its a 3 phase motor as i cant check, if motor is ok on wash i see no reason why it would not spin
have you checked level switch ?

ParticipantGood evening Dave, (again!)
It’s a brushless “inverter” motor, and I haven’t checked the pressure switch.
Seems like that I ought to, and go from there…
Thanks,jonty

ParticipantYou may well be right, (again!) Dave.
The pressure switch gives an Ohms reading when testing between the two outer switch terminals, but doesn’t vary when blowing gently into the unit.
Alas, the part is out of stock (DC9601703G) and I’m struggling to obtain one reasonably quickly…

Moderatoryou cant check the switch that way
its a variable reluctor not a variable resistorseems to be some on Amazon and ebay

ParticipantWas unsure, and realise these pressure switches are difficult to test conclusively.
I feel it remains suspect, as washer stays on 10 minutes remaining and shows no sign of wishing to fast spin, (falsely detecting water in tub/drum?) yet drains and agitates fine…

Moderatorlevel switch does remaIn a poss problem but since its worked ok on all other rinses its a long shot
not sure if there is a way to recalibrate like on hotpoints
assume you checked pressure chamber for deposits

Participantis the heater okay continuity and insulation resistance ?

ParticipantWell, the pressure chamber is clean, and vacuum hose fine.
Have tried the recalibration mode via the delay start & temp buttons etc….
Heater fine too. (1550 Meg’ Ohms resistance & 27 Ohms continuity)
I’ll try a pressure switch, otherwise suspect electronic control module.

Participantp.s. I don’t suppose a faulty drum imbalance sensor on top of the tub could cause this fault?
November 10, 2020 at 5:05 pm #472798jontymox
Participantp.p.s. Does anyone know the purpose of the small electrical unit close, but separate to, the electronic control module?
Samsung refer to it as a “harmonic coil.”
November 10, 2020 at 5:42 pm #472799electrofix
Moderatorfrom what i can see its a coil on a former with 2 wires
that makes it a choke in my opinion. its a power supply thing. probably used for surges etc
should not affect spin
if out of balance detector was faulty i would expect it to come up UB at the endyou can download an app with this one, have you tried that ?

ParticipantOh…. no, I haven’t tried downloading an app, as I’m not au fait with such electronic wizardry!
Sounds like it may help in diagnosing this problem…

Moderatorlook up the owners manual and it mention diagnostics
not done it myself

ParticipantHave just replaced the pressure switch, and problem remains.
On a spin cycle, 16 min’s for example, the motor will slowly rotate back and forth, but the display sticks on 10 minutes remaining and no fast spin…
Have inspected the wiring harness as best as possible, and tried the diagnostic mode, (without joy) as haven’t been able to locate diagnostic mode for this model online, so probably not pressing correct button sequence!
Will have to investigate App procedure, which I’m completely unfamiliar with….
