Hi
It shouldn’t really back feed as it has a non return flap 😕
What the best practice is, is to make sure that when the waste pipe leaves the spigot, it needs to go up into a loop higher than the the spigot so that back fill cannot take place.HTH

Hi Greg,
Thanks again for the further help….
After i wrote the mail i started to think about it and came to the same conclusion, have reinstalled the U bend (removed during original fix) and all is now fine.
Where is the non return flap? I might give it a clean….
Thanks again.
Regards,
AB.

Hi All,
The machine has been working fine for a few months, but has now developed a new fault…The top spray arm isn’t moving, and the pressure seems reduced to the lower spray arm.
Where should i be looking?
Once again, any help much appreciated.
Regards,
AbingdonBoy.

The water point cam has packed up on the Heater Unit (Instanteneous Water Heater Bosch call it). If you remove the top spray arm unit (by the drain filter) and shine a torch down the 2 inlet tubes you will see the cam. Sadly they cannot be accessed or repaired though. Major strip down to replace heater unit the only cure. 🙁

Hi Martin,
But i have only just replaced this part!!! (read previous posts)
Do the arms work independently of one another? If so then this may not be the problem…

On further inspection the top arm is in fact working, but when the door is opened the water pressure doesn’t seem as high as it use to be…

apologies for the previous posts, i hadn’t run a full cycle at that point.
I have now tried to run a full cycle…
The fault code ‘1’ appears (as it did with the last problem, but this time the heater isn’t open circuit, and is getting 240v when required) but this time i believe it is due to water level during the cycle. The machine fills as it should, filling the clear plastic reservoir to the left of the machine, and starts washing, but when i returned to the machine during the washing most of the water had gone, and when left for the cycle to end, it never ends, but the machine is empty and it sounds like it is still trying to pump out…
What can this be?
I can’t afford to spend more money on parts for an unreliable machine, so please say it’s something cheep to fix…

Hi
Sounds like it starts to work but then develops a leak thus dropping water level so much that the microswitch on heater is not actuated anymore, thus giving error 1. The base now probably has water in it from the leak and has activated the anti flood float (front left).
Un plug appliance before investigating :plug:Greg

ParticipantRe: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?
the chances are that the pressure chamber is clogged up , causing probs with fill levels – This assembly sits at bottom right edge of the main ‘water reservoir’ on the LHS – it has two microswitches on it , with the top one being used for ‘overfill’ probs. This may be operating if the water coming in is ‘backing up’ and switching on the pump , thus draining water . Not enough water during the rinse cycle will mean no heating so appliance will just keep running with little water in it , waiting to heat up. Clear this pressure chamber and the ribbed hose and you should be sorted

Thanks again to you all, a simple case of cleaning out the chamber (as described by nomadPaul above) and all now appears to be working well again…
Would the dishwasher cleaners available in supermarkets work at cleaning this in future? Or does it require a periodic strip down and clean?
Seems like a weak design for it to clog in a four year old machine…

AB.
