Apla
great – much appreciated. I’ll see if this makes sense, and give feedback to the group. It is good to see the web used for positive stuff.

Hello people,
After reading the discussion board Im convinced I have the same problem with my Siemen’s fridge freezer – the electronics board.
So where is everyone obtaining this repair kit from please? Living in Leicester, is there somewhere local I can obtain this from, or what is the number for Siemen’s I can contact.
The other thinkg is how much does this repair kit cost? I hope not too extortionate.
Thank you people!

KeymasterOur Bosch fridge freezer model KGV3120GB/01 has just stopped keeping the cabinets cool, but worked if the plug was taken out and put back in after a few minutes.
Following this thread I disconnected the dark blue and the dark brown wires and shorted out the plug where these wires were in the plug.
This did not fix it so I replaced these two wires back in the plug and repeated the proceedure on the other two wires in the plug.
This has fixed the problem and the fridge/freezer is now working correctly.
What do the sensors look like?
Are they just an NTC thermistor on a wiring harness ?
Thanks for the help on this forum. 😀February 4, 2005 at 7:23 pm #117608Dave_Conway

Yep, but no-one’s ever seen one as they are foamed in to the insulation, hence the Bosch mod of bypassing the fridge one, otherwise it would be a new fridge/freezer 😀

I have a bosch fridge freezer and it sounds like i have the same problem. When i removed the top panel to look for the wires it looked different to what has been said in the forum. On the left hand side of the pcb i have a grey, blue, black, and white wire. On the right i have a dark brown, light brown and a black.
I do hope someone can help me with this problem i feel so close to fixing it. 😀Thanks John
(Id post a pic of it if anyone can tell me how)February 23, 2005 at 7:55 pm #117610Slatovski

Just thought i should let you know that i have found the answer i was looking for. As i said my wires were different. With the model i have (dont ask me which couldnt be bothered to empty it and pull it out of its tight spot to read the serial number), all i had to do was to short out the large black wire with the small brown wire right next to it. These wires were on the right of the pcb attached to a white connector. I have only just done it but the results look good. I found the answer at http://www.reviewcentre.com/Hope it helps someone else.
thanks John 😀

Hello
I seem to have the same problem as a number of people posting.
Siemens Vario Electronic Fridge Freezer 3/4 yrs old not restarting when temp rises.
I assume I will need modification talked about and feel confident enough to do it, however, I am now in New Zealand and wondering how/who I need to contact to get mod part and what specifically is it’s description.
Any help would be greatly appreciatedthanks

I have a KGV3104 GB 04 FD 7811/30044. The problem is I have to switch off and on again to restart. It seems the sensor short fix will work for me – Bosch want 12.93GBP for the information. Can anyone help and explain which wireless I need to join?
As I look at the back of the board there is a 3way connector on one side and a 4way connector on the other. Which connector is it and which wires do I need to join? The 4way is colour coded (top down) grey, white, blue, black.
Thanks in anticipation.
Bill.

Dave,
Thanks for the information. Perhaps you could help resolve an apparent conflict here. Sure enough the information at the link you give from Jan describes the 3way connector (thick black, thin brown, thin brown) for the KGV 2604. However an earlier posting on this site from ‘alpa’ posted in November 2004 talks about a similar procedure being undertaken on the 4way connector (grey, white, blue, black) presumably for the KGV 3104. I guess the models are similar, mine is the KGV 3104 and the other one described is the KGV 2604. Is the procedure different for the two models? However it sounds like people have had success with the black, brown, brown connector.
Thanks again for any enlightenment.
Bill.

I thought I’d provide an update on how I faired with the fix suggested by Dave above.
I used a terminal block to join the black and brown wire next to it – remembering to leave the black unbroken (in order to supply the second sensor). This fixed the problem – the fridge now starts again of its own accord! I found that my fridge, the KGV 3104 GB 04, and the KGV 2604 GB 04 have the same circuit board part number (265-109) so this fix should work for both models.
Before trying this fix I called Bosch Appliance Care. I was greeted by an individual with an awful phone manner and an altogether condescending tone. Upon explaining my problem I was told the fridge WAS 7 years old and I needed a service call… My original motivation for buying a Bosch was (clearly misguided) that it would give me several years trouble-free service. However I was clearly mistaken… They also scoffed at the idea that this was a common fault. Ummmm.
Still, thanks for all the help given by this forum. I mused on the fact that Bosch and other companies are probably not that happy with online forums. It must be reducing the after sales revenues something terrible!
Thanks,
Bill. -
