    Yippeee…just had a poke around some of the wiring, and look what appeared….

    Guess it was this that was being troublesome..

    Er, no, not exactly…..

    That’s the mains suppressor (a capacitance device 😀 ), which has undoubtedly blown and is responsible for the spurious flashing lights. The SMEG orginal component has been supeceded to one which requires major work to fit, so most of us are just using this:

    With the addition of AMP tags to suit, it’s the same unit.

    The start/run capacitor is the cylinder attached to the side of the pump motor.

    Penguin – well took the capacitor off the motor and it looks a bit knackered eh?

    Got back today and fitted all the parts that had blown, and she’s working a good one now 😆
