Pity you can’t just block all .ru IP’s . :rolls:

KeymasterDone that, broke the Bantron with too many bans. :rolls:
Basically, the system is too old to cope. Which is what I’m working on but it’s taking a *LOT* longer than I’d hoped for.

Not sure what happened there, I have just deleted one very dodgy one from the waiting list.
There were three in total, one of the other ones was also an obvious spammer and one looked legit but when I hit the back button after clicking delete on the first one all three had gone at once. 😕

Was that MTLandscape back on for a second go? Very efficient as spammers go. Nailed him once earlier.

Trevor is now on the case. 😀
It looks as if he’s gonna ban all .ru and .biz addresses for starters you’ll be pleased to hear. He’s already banned a load of IP addresses from the server.

Not sure what or where the forum icon is supposed to be?
I can see the small blue square with UK above WG in the address bar at all times including the admin panel, is that the one you mean?
I deleted MTLandscape twice last night as well. 😥

KeymasterNo, it’s a box with a PC screen and a globe on it in the admin panel.

Okay. There’s a few tricks here.
To disable a user account is pretty simple, where they’ve posted a load of crap you want to delete before zapping the account do this…
Go to the forums admin page and, on the left, you’ll see the admin navigation.
Go to User Administration which is the bottom section of that menu then “Management”.
Up comes a box to look up the user. Type or paste in the username and hit Search or press return.
Up comes all the info on that account.
Scroll right down till you get to the special admin section and select user to be “inactive”. This disables them from posting anything, they can login but can’t do Jack Schitt.
This allows us to delete the posts and clean the forum/XML scroll and deal with the user later.
You can scroll back up and change the email address to whatever@ukadmin.whatever or similar as that also screws up the login if desired. That also lets all the rest of the admin spods know that the account has been tampered with. The downside to this is that it will allow that email address to re-register.
However, the username is then blocked from doing anything with the account.

Sorry if I am being a bit thick here, if I click on the Administration link on the left of the main homepage it brings up the Admin panel but the menus on the left are the same. No sign of any extra admin navigation options. 😕
I can reach User Administration by selecting the Edit Users icon in the box of seven icons at the top of the page but entering the username in that only brings up the e-mail address with no options lower down to perform special admin functions.
