Just deleted both of the posts by bittersweetca, one in washer forum & one in general posted a couple of days ago, also disabled the account.

Both asking questions about a wireless network problem on a laptop PC.

I did get a faint odour of spam but both Chris and myself replied. 😳

I have just disabled OXIren and also deleted a post from that account in the refrigeration forum, also asking PC related questions.

I think that any posts that ‘appear’ to be genuine computer problems in the public forums should be binned ASAP, especially from gmail addys, although bittersweetca was an ‘ru’ one, that one sneaked under the radar chaps. 😥

He registered on the 18th and his profile showed his url as DeniedP45 but when I checked on the phpBB management console he had not been disabled. 😕

I might be missing something here. Type the user name into Permissions on pHp admin, all forums are denied, hit Submit and he should be barred, yes?

Sorry, as you’ve probably realised I’ve been really struggling with time over the past few weeks, so if I’m doing it wrong, please advise.

Here’s what I do…

Deny all three permissions at the bottom of the forum admin:

User is active
Can send PMs
Can display avatar

There are some that spam using PMs. :rolls:

Stops “objectionable” images being uploaded.

Then go to the user admin on the normal admin and put “Denied KW” in the URL field.

Change the password so they can’t login again.

Save, done.

I’m guessing that you selected the Denied buttons but then missed the submit, I went back and ‘did’ him.

Its so easy to do that, done it myself several times. 😳 🙂

A Polish blitz on the go, just deleted 5 from the ‘waiting’ list all starting with lolly- , checked back five minutes later and there was another 3. 😥

EDIT. Binned the thread, it was in the dishwasher forum asking how to post an avatar as he was new to this forum lark and liked the discussions here.

A quick Google shows him/her as having registered on umpteen other forums in past few days. 😥

Here’s a little something to ponder……..

Darkknight. Posts a reply relating to drainage, has signature linking to UK-Drains.
Jasonroach posts a reply relating to a lock problem, has signature linking to A2Blocks.

There’s another one as well, but I can’t find it……. 👿

Neither of them says anything constructive, but not offensive in ant way.

I reckon it’s a bit of subtle spamming……..

Not doing subtelty, I have edited the UK-Drains link to DrainDoctor and the A2Blocks one to Timpsonslocksmiths.

Wonder if they’ll ever check their links?

Link building accounts, it’s spam normally if the stuff they post isn’t relative so I just delete it and ban them. 🙂
