Not the sludge depositing lumps into the clothes after being loosened in the hotter wash then? Which , taking your mucky machines page a step further would , in my mind, account for the randomness… No?
It’s just so weird how it just started with no change to any products used other than that conversion to liquid detergents.
I am honestly drawing blank now, I’m also not a “blame the tools” kind of person, I’ll always check for the human error option first because I’ve done plenty of daft things in my time but this one really has me stumped. I got the beckmann rescue kit with the 3 types of stain remover in and not one worked on any of the items affected not even a slight fade. Glow white….nothing.
I will bow out as gracefully as possible because otherwise we’ll just go round in circles now I think.
I will give it a week or two to see if more stains appear after having used enough cleaning products and bleach in the machine this last few days, not to mention the electricity to fuel the boil washes, to wipe out a large section of rain forest.
If it’s worked then I’ll know, if not then I’m no wiser and will probably need committing before the year is out!
Thanks again.

Wow what a fascinating thread! One Aqualtis washer, liquid detergent used (Ariel I think?) 5 – 7 loads a week and only white garments show up this random staining. Though I’m sure given the mix of weekly washing done then the staining must also be on the coloureds and simply not visually detectable.
Oddly, no mention of the bed sheets? Pure white, cotton fabric as a rule, everyone washes them weekly, never a mixed wash either, all sheets and nothing but. Yet in this case the OP has not complained of sheets being damaged in this way.
Just curious that’s all. 😉

The stains all look typical of the examples shown when you google whites not staying white. The pattern on the polo shirt is sweat, so treat that as sweat. The others could be poor materials or dye used in manufacturing, even Ralph cuts costs to improve profit, to me viewing your photos there are several different issues as the stains are not consistent, so you may require several different remedies. We don’t live in a world that is black and white, nothing stays the same and is ever evolving, which is why doing any action repeatedly will eventually have a changed outcome, so stating l’ve done it this way for yrs really means, I’ve done it so many times the change was inevitable. Sometimes it’s easy to make the uncomplicated complicated, women have struggled for decades to keep whites looking white, it’s impossible, like washing machines our cloths don’t have an infinite life span, add chemicals, sweat, mechanical action will result in poor whitescoloureds. Maybe some of the items are just beyond there lifespan or poor quality/workmanship .
