    HI

It has to be a silicone that withstands 300oc +.

It would also need to be cleaned completely off and de greased without using a oil based degreasing agent then resealed and left off for a minimum of 24hrs. You can’t just leave the old sealant on and try to rebound it with old bond still there.

The repair really needs to be done by an engineer as the top does come off and the plate retaining brackets would need to be undone. And then re assembled.

    Hi Bryan,

Thanks for the reply. It is a 300c silicone. It is also very hard to fully degrease the surfaces as the hob seal is still holding on in place on 2 sides. Unless i totally committed to taking the hob off, and removing the old sealant, i doubt i can fix it. But, I don’t want to totally remove it, as i am not sure i have the skills or tools to fix it back! So im in a bit of a catch 22!

I have no contacts here in Northern Ireland such as what you provided. The best i could do would be to pay a callout to a random ‘oven repair man’ who may end up just telling me he can’t fix it. If i knew someone who could ‘definitely’ fix it then i’d pay.

Oh well. Its a sin to scrap the WHOLE oven for such a trivial thing as a glued in bit of rubber.
