Sounds like the motor to me. I carry a motor for substitute as a check. The software on the board has no answer to a motor open circuit fault, so the interlock locks and the board waits for ever. All I do is unplug the motor and plug in a new one, 9 times out of ten, the machine sparks into life. However ……. you mentioned an “F2” fault ……. does this mean you have a display unit in the machine? if you do, a faulty display board can stop the machine working. The module and display board should be changed as a matching pair and don’t forget that the display board has an eprom in it, you’ll have to take the eprom out of the old display board and fit it into the new one. Fun isn’t it??

Nope, it’s awful. Just learnt more about these things in the 20 seconds it took to read this post than just working from the fault codes and experience. Why can’t your esteemed employers just tell us this stuff?

This just typifies so much of what is wrong with the relationship between the manufacturers and the engineers. After the guarantee period, we independents take over a lot of the repair work. Towards “end of life”, we’re much happier to recommend appliances which we get support on, or will happily keep an ‘old ‘un going ‘cos we’ve got the info.

I doubt any of us in here would honestly recommend Indesit. Trouble is that we’re going that way with Hotpoint now as well. Great shame.

It *was* a broken wire at the heater. It looked fine – but the wire inside the insulation was broken.

Jimbo ,the fault on this machine was as above.

Is an insulation and continuity test and perhaps close inspection of brushes on these motors not good enough to eliminate motor fault ❓
