Indesit wdg1095w. No spin. Had to dig deep in the brush spares. Been on the van 9yrs! Genuine car69 as well!

It wasn’t C00035290’s by any chance? One of my stupidest buying decisions around 10 years ago when bumping up my Masterpart order to get free delivery. I think it was 5+ individual brushes for around £2 each.

I still have all five, now consigned to my garage store. Mind you, the current equivalent now retail for £23 a pair (C00196540), so I may yet recoup my investment!

funny enough today, an old Fagor and an old Brandt Ocean washing machine, both we sold way back. Both customers also insist they bought them from our shop only around 5 years ago….my shop shut in 2005 and we had pulled out of retail way before that. Both still going strong, blocked air bell on both of them.

Are the brushes on those not removable from the holders? Every picture I can find seems to show removable carbons and they look pretty standard for use on a lot of machines.

Good tip LothianDomestics. I’ve noticed some motors on older Hoover and Beko machines use brushes with the same type of inserts but those I’ve come across recently had left rather than right handed inserts, so weren’t compatible.

A lot of motors are setup to accept carbons on both sides, so you can normally use them even if the tips are the other way round by using the other holes to attach the carbons. (See holes next to carbon in attached pic).

It’s a lifesaver if you don’t have the specific carbon for a machine and lets you carry a much smaller amount in your van but still complete each job. I carry a bag of inserts as well as common brushes/holders and never really come across one I can’t repair on-site.

There may be problem reversing the brush direction. When the motor turns because of the brush angle the brushes will wear more when the motor turns in a particular direction. I have never tested it but I would assume the spin direction would allow the brush to trail rather than lead giving less wear. If you reverse the brush you may get excessive wear
Just my theory on it because of which I have never reversed a brush

I can’t say for sure they don’t wear slightly quicker, I’ve just never seen a problem over the years because of this.

I find with brush cut angle of 30 degrees from qualtex most have to be fettled anyway

Agree with qualtex brush problem if you just fit them they only contact at the rear of the carbon leading to lots of sparking

Have told qualtex of the problem but it’s seems to be ignored also getting some brushes really bad fit in the holders looks like carbon is too small
Need to try other sources for brushes getting fed up with them now

I have to say, I use these brushes quite a lot. I buy the genuine C00312014. They work out cheaper than the car69. They fit some of the Whirlpool, Hoover, Candy as well as Hotpoint/Indy. Always carry about 3 pairs on the van. Like other have said, if they are the other way around and I don’t have the correct pair, I either file them down with sandpaper or fit into the other holes. Never had a problem yet.

I often use brushes that I have to cut with the Stanley knife so the slope is right, and often take out brass brush assembly and fit into existing plastic casing if I have not got the right one but only works if side locking bits are the same
