I have.
Combine that with my own accounts, its not an issue. 🙂
I also don`t have to spend much on advertising as I get calls from clients I`ve visited on contract calls for their other appliances.

No if I`m in their house and I`m contracted by Bosch and have no other Bosch brand appliance the rest is fair game.
Did one last week called about there fridge and did there cooker hood too. 😆
Took over a £100 in one visit.
The hood part although different make to the Bosch had the same motor which I had on my van. 😆
What is the difference between contract work and normal, at least with contract work you no what your getting.
Also how many calls do guys do for free, do you charge a call out ?
I get paid on every call, more or less, but if you call to a normal call and like my whirlpool FF i did yesterday found the PCB faulty within 5 minutes and found the part is over £180 just to buy, what do you charge the client, £80 call out, nope your luck to justify £20, as you`ve only been there 20 minutes.
So yes the same as my local garage who`s labour charge is £40 an hour.
You`d be hard pressed as a low level tech, lets face it we are not University educated Engineers, we are Technicians and that is stretching it, so justifying an income more than the UK average is going to be difficult.
I`d love to earn £100 an hour, but I didn`t stay in school long enough.
I`m happy on my small £70 an hour income. 😉

I was offered subcontract work with a major electrical company earlier this year.
Prior to the informal chat with the management, I worked out that if I was using my own van & public liability insurance, £20 for a PR (parts required) and £40 for a (capped) completed job was a fair request.
The manager had other ideas. £10 per job with PAYE & they would allow me 36p a mile for the first 10,000 miles!
Believe it or not, this offer was on par with the annual wage of their top engineers. For obvious reasons I declined their offer…December 6, 2009 at 5:21 pm #30390613amp
