    The crux of the matter

Not that you aren’t organised but as I’ve posted before
    “what are your aims”
    “where is your prioritised agenda”
“what would have the most impact with the least amount of work”

Probably difficult but I’d like to see a survey posted (with a link on the front page) where visitors rate their best and worst appliance brand.
Then perhaps their best and worst work provider.

    Re: Tasks!

Okay then, if you really want an answer to those questions…

    “what are your aims”

    Simple.

To both save the independent industry and to give it a self-sustaining means to ensure it’s survival for as long as I can possibly provide it.

To promote at every opportunity, the benefits of the independents over all others.

To educate the independents and provide them with the means to do the job smarter and better, thus ensuring the future.

To educate the public to those facts wherever and however possible.

Probably there’s more but I can’t think on them right now, but theu’re heady enough to be going on with.

And, damn! That sounds awfully close to what a trade association SHOULD be doing for the trade!

    “what is your prioritised agenda”

    See above.

Currently we are working on two major projects that should deliver over 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of it I hope. Give us until September’s meeting for one, start of 2006 for the other.

“what would have the most impact for the least amount of work”

Hell, I’ve been working on one project that launches in August (the training) for over a year!

What I want is stuff that maximises for the guys with minimum effort, we’ll deliver that with any luck and it starts this year.

that isn’t a blow-by-blow answer I know and perhaps a bit cryptic, but there’s no way I’m giving the game away just yet, lets’ just say that there’s changes in the wind… big changes. 😉

The casual public viewer might get the impression from the new front page that this is not a public site.

No real mention of the public forums.

Are the stats are down because of this?

    Is this intentional?

How about a Public Forums button up top?

What are “the benefits” and what can we/you “expand on”.
This might give you something to do with the subscribers money and also tidy up a few other loose ends as well.

    “DOUBLE THE WARRANTY”
Employ a UKW member/subsriber through repairs@ and UKW will double the warranty
WHO ELSE CAN GIVE THIS LEVEL OF SECURITY??
ALL UKW MEMBERS GUARANTEE THEIR WORK IN WRITING
UKWHITEGOODS ALSO GUARANTEES ALL MEMBERS’ WORK
    A DOUBLE GUARANTEE
FAULTY WORK WILL BE RECTIFIED BY UKW AT NO FURTHER COST TO THE CONSUMER IF FOR ANY REASON THE MEMBER WHO DID THE ORIGINAL WORK CAN NOT OR WILL NOT FIX A FAULTY REPAIR.
SO, DON’T GET A SHONKY REPAIRER TO FIX YOUR VALUABLE APPLIANCES
GET AN UKW MEMBER AND KNOW FOR SURE THE JOB WILL BE DONE PROPERLY
DOUBLE THE WARRANTY DOUBLE THE SECURITY

    Re: Tasks!

Na the public seem to get it okay Alexa, any more than a few seconds reading and they should have the gist of things. But most jump into the forums through searching on Google, which is what a lot of us forget, and do not see the front page until much later. If they see it being of use to them then they will continue.

    But this month, until 3:30 (IIRC) this morning;

    Unique visitors: 2667

    Number of visits: 4214 (1.58 visits/visitor)

    Pages: 34108 (8.09 pages/visit)

So no, I don’t think it has an affect, merely the ebb and flow of traffic and I think that the increase of late has been largely down to the Maytag affair in the news.

Also this is the reason why making the public forums any more prominent is probably a pointless exercise.

As for the warranty stuff, we already discussed some sort of backing there just last week, or was it the week before? 😕

In short, it’d cost too much for now.
