Trouble is, they’d probably not read it based on the evidence thus far! :rolls:

I actually think that a lot of it is down to sheer laziness and not much else as, if some took the time to at least look through the tech info, they would have a bit of a clue what they were doing. After reading enough and doing enough, they’d have a clue of how to actually diagnose a problem and work stuff out for themselves but so many want their hand held it’s unreal.

What is most shocking is the degree that they want the hand holding to be at as, other than actually going and doing the job for them, there’s not much more help can be given. Yet some people almost refuse to work out the problem for themselves. The work ethic is shocking, yet they still b1tch about getting paid and how much… well, duh!

But I can tell you, that as the work is analysed to a much higher degree these days by everyone, a lot of these guys better up their game and get with the program or they won’t have the work on contract stuff. Some of the figures even we have are, quite honestly, scary.

I can see you are on a roll ATM. 😉

Might I suggest a sticky in the ISE forums. No need to mention any names just post up the stupid questions, It might :rolls:
provoke one or two of them into taking the trouble to check the tech info first.

How about a thread entitled, ‘I don’t believe it’ 😆

Oh that one in the ISE forum was a belter.

Pure and utter fraud, there’s nothing else it could be unless they sent out the most incompetent fool I’ve ever come across. The problem is with that sort of idiocy, that they think it’s a victimless crime, it’s just the insurance company or manufacturer that’s picking up the tab, so why give a sh1t?

They forget that it is, technically, fraud. The only other explanation especially where it’s an obvious thing, is incompetency. There is not other alternative as you either know or you don’t, you lied to cover it up or you didn’t.

I know why they do it but that’s not an excuse for it really and, some of them instead of doing it on the odd occasion when they really are in the deep brown stuff, seem to think that they can get away with it all the time.

My problem is that I have an insurer breathing down my neck and questioning claims as well as the competency of some engineers and at times they make defending them really, really hard for me. Some of the claims I have to make “adjustments” to just so they go through, but there’s only so much I can actually do to help.

What I am trying to make them understand is that, if I can see this with the limited resource I have, what do they think the people that do this for a living with a shedload of staff and IT are thinking or doing?

The thing that really gets on my t1ts about it all is that it makes the good guys look bad as well. Thankfully most of the ISE guys are good, but there are a few that need a nudge in the right direction.

I really want a trade only section for articles.

In the meantime, have a read of this little ditty as something that may help some. Well, at least those that take the time to read, learn and use a bit of what used to be referred to as common sense.

Please feel free to get ripped into it, especially Bryan, Ian and Sean as they are fridge dudes and I did write it under duress. 😉

Didn’t want to start a new thread in case Allsorts spotted it on the scrolling doofer, and the subject of this thread seemed apposite. 😉

Not sure how others feel about THIS

I can live with one on easy PCB repairs because very few of us are electronics experts but if we have a sticky for bearing repairs what next, timer changes, pump fitting, door seal replacement, etc, etc.

I’m for letting it slide of the front page again, what say you?
