Yes, but martin not everyone has your ability. You’d be surprised how many engineers look at a pump for instance and don’t get that the smaller the cable the higher the et resistance or how to calculate what that resistance should be by using the voltage & wattage written on it. Not having that ability may mean that although they have metered the component the reading may indicate the reason why you cannot resolve an odd issue.

Have never ever had to use it ( and before you say anything lee yes I’m perfectly aware how to ). The only time I could see it of any benefit is if you had a part without anything stamped on it and again I’ve never seen that

Not even to assess if a plug fitted to a cooker is correct when no installation instructions are present.

There would be a rating plate on the back

That’s ok then.
Although a major #### ####### supplier installed a range cooker with a flex off a scrapped dishwasher and plugged it into an extension lead that was then serviced/repaired by 2 separate repair companies over a 5 yr period before the resulting fire removed the labels.
It would be nice if peeps read the labels.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’ve been to cost it this morning and it looks like the inner part of the element has just been badly warped. T/stat seems ok. Will check TOC if it has one when I access the back when I get a new element. Model is TKC1285. 🙂

Got this done eventually. The first element I got was duff but all sorted now.
Nothing exciting other than an unusually warped element.
Not over heating etc.. just a warped.

It dropped down about 12cm.. all sorted now landfill
