    Re: They’re checking!

Back in 95, I was approached by a representative of the police federation asking for me to place an add in the police diary. Looking for new business and not wanting to upset the old bill I did. It became apparent very soon that this guy was no more than a hot heeled sales guy.
I got my add and free diaries for the year, probably no business and always felt done that this guy had sold himself as a member of the police force, which he was not. It cost me about £150 I think. Not bad for a lesson in life. Never trust anyone selling over the phone or coming into your premises if they are not there at your request.

Following that I had fireservice, lifeboats, animal welfare every school in the area and they all say they phoned earlier in the year.
You know the call ” Just phoning to let you know your adverts ready” etc.

The last one I got over the phone offering a free listing in an internet directory. This was been taped and I was been tricked into accepting the 5 key search words, fact I kept stating I do not wish to pay for advertising killed her case and off she went, my friend was not so lucky cost him £300 plus vat..

Morale is dont take anything at face value, seen the data protection scam from the data protection enforcement officer. Yeh right. :rolls:

I asked him to send out more information but nothing arrived, then in Feb 2008, news broke in press that this was a con and the Police had nothing to do with it..

A few years ago we received a phone call from a company who said they were Police printers and could they have five minutes of our time. My wife took the call and she proceeded to ask a few questions back to them, how long have you been printing for the Police? etc. The answers given were very convincing and my wife said “can you give a contact no.” as we would like to think about it,which she was given. With this number in hand she proceeded to advice the chap that she worked for **** Police and she was head of several dept’s and that she had never heard of them! and that she would pass ther phone no. onto the Fraud squad.
It turned out this company had printed a Diary for the Police golf section. 😆
We never got another call of them again, can’t understand why.
